DET/LAL?
I know it is very early and the Lakers are not done with F/A yet but... Lakers are looking to win now and might be looking for veterans to help. Detroit is (should be) rebuilding on the fly. Maybe something like this?
DET out: Jackson and Johnson
LAL out: Deng and Ball
Detroit takes on dead weight in Deng to get a younger pass first PG in Ball. Detroit would be taking on some extra money here also.
Lakers get a veteran PG in Jackson that was asked to do too much in Detroit and a Young small forward prospect in Johnson.
Essentially, it is a swap for bad contracts Jackson/Deng, with one (Deng) being useless salary to a team that is looking to make a run, for a player in Jackson that could help either as a starter or a sixth man. The cost of that swap being Ball. Johnson and a small bit of cap space (4.5m) being the sweetener.

Re: DET/LAL?
Deng and Jackson are equally bad contracts and Jackson isn't all that good a fit with Lebron. The difference in value to those 2 for the Lakers is fairly small.
The difference between Stanley and Ball? That on the other hand is fairly large. This one's not even close.

Does Leuer really want advice from this mouth breather?
"THREE YEARS AGO, the Warriors had a mystery on their hands. Team trainers were noticing that the stationary bikes in their practice facility had become rather unstationary. More to the point, they were disappearing. Eventually, the mystery was solved. Green was dragging the stationary cycles to the sauna and leaving them there to soak.
It turned out that Green, who's struggled with his weight since his days at Michigan State, had developed a theory: By riding the bikes in the sauna, he could more efficiently shed pounds. In the short term, biking in a sauna will do that, but much of what is lost is water weight and is soon gained back. Golden State trainers were aware that Green's regimen was, at best, scientifically dubious. Also, the bikes were getting ruined. Says a former Golden State trainer: "He would come in and say, 'The screen's not working on the bike.' And I'd be like, 'Yeah, I wonder why.''
Draymond Green not only one of the biggest idiots but also one of the biggest pussays in the league

Don't think it's about advice. I think we need to convince the Lakers they need the Draymond killer.

Lakers are probably willing to trade for Leuer for a second round pick. There's no reason they wouldn't take Leuer for free. If they have to get talent there leuer contract isn't bad for Lakers. They'll be going into luxury tax for sure. If he's really known as green killer, that would be funny!

Lakers are looking at preserving cap space to go after Kawhi.
Unless it's Deng going in the opposite direction, something that I doubt Detroit would be interested in, then the Lakers don't have any interest in 2019/20 salary

They have enough space to sign a max without having to trade anything. Talent is gonna be hard to come by day by day this offseason. I believe lakers will absorb contracts as a Plan B and players like Leuer can be had for very cheap. Lakers will pay the luxury tax no problem too.

If you take a quick look at the Lakers now cap situation in 2019, you'll find that with Deng, they're sitting at 25 mil in cap space only (assuming there's no Randle, and there's no 2019 FRP salary to still account for), that's not enough for Kawhi.
There's no reason to eat into that with Leuer being owed 9.5 mil for the 2019/20 season

Reggie Jackson is not being traded for the#2 pick last summer

Re: DET/LAL?
LEBRON and the Lakers are going to be doing heavy FA recruiting next summer. They want max cap space unless it's a player like Kahwi they are trading for. They could have probably just signed KCP to a 3 year $36 million contract but they are valuing cap space and flexibility above all else now they have LeBron to recruit for them next summer.

Re: DET/LAL?
Stanley / Leuer / Ish / Moreland / Buyks for Deng / Lonzo
Lakers clear out Deng's deal and turn it into Leuer's, who might actually be a usable player for them plus should be much easier to move for a big summer next year. Stanley is either a guy they can get a look at or a guy they can flip in a Kawhi package, since we know the Spurs have been interested in him for a while.
Lonzo has the size to potentially play the 2 next to Reggie for some minutes, but slots in as a long term back court mate next to Kennard. We would be relying heavily on Deng, both as the likely starting SF and as a backup small ball 4, taking over much of Stanley AND Leuer's roles, but given the price the long term upside on Lonzo is worth taking the shot.

Re: DET/LAL?
Dre
Blake / Deng / Ellenson
Bullock / GRIII
Lonzo / Kennard / Thomas / Brown
Reggie / Galloway
Puts us just into the tax, so that might be a no go, and we'd go deeper in with signing some vet min bigs.

Wrong. The Pistons should be working toward a clean slate then a rebuild.

Re: DET/LAL?
Would have to toss in a FRP and Luke, still doubt they do it. They really want to unload Deng's deal, not take back another. Probably need to involve a third team.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
