At this point at least we can say he hasn't had much of a chance to meet the team and its leaders yet. If anyone can get this kid's head in the game, it's guys like Horford, Tatum, and Brad Stevens. And Marcus Smart especially, if we manage to bring him back.

Smart couldn't even bring his fellow rookie Young along.

And my guess is that especially after yesterday, Williams is tired of hearing "Tatum, Tatum, Tatum!"

He seems to just be tired in general

Yeah but It isn't though and it is reinforcing his reputation as having a horrible work ethic. Missed introductory conference call, missed a flight and missed a practice.

Imagine if you started a brand new job the way Williams is staring his.

Didn't seem to work for James Young and Jared Sullinger. I think "immaturity" is a bogus excuse for this sort of thing.

This guy worries me. Nba is hard. No one is going to be there to tell you not to go out, to get up, to do your ****.

KG would punch him in the mouth. Hopefully a takes him under his wing.

I hope Williams’ Mom lives with him. Kid seems is a mental midget. Get to your freakin million dollar job on time.

On the plus side Smart slept through practice in the playoffs so maybe Williams isn’t doomed to failure just yet

Ha --yes. It's gotta be a little bit of a weird dynamic though--JT and RW both turn 21 in March, with Tatum all of 20 days older than Williams.

The guy I wouldn't mind seeing as a coach for him is Perk. He came in similarly clueless and got it turned around and then some. Neither had the benefit of a professional basketball player as a father.

There is a reason his stock dropped, just have to hope the team culture changes him a bit.

what does that mean? It's okay if it's a wasted pick because it's a late first? There have been dozens of difference makers taken after #27. Just because you have a clear path to the finals for THIS year does not mean things can't go dramatically south NEXT year should we lose Kyrie/Rozier, Hayward never comes back healthy, someone gets injured or young guys fail to take the next step. And in such. a deep draft with plenty of other potential better players taken after Williams, missing on him could impact our future big time.

I thought I was pretty clear on what I meant. And what does losing Kyrie/Terry or Hayward or guys getting injured again have to do with Robert Williams?? They have nothing to do with each other which is why you just proved my point. Sure if ALL of those things happen again, yeah we're in trouble because even if Robert Williams hadn't missed anything yet I STILL wouldn't feel comfortable with him replacing those guys. And to put it bluntly, you're freaking nuts if you think Williams busting is going to "impact our future big time."
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. It’s championship or bust this year. There is no room on the bus for clowns. I hope he spends the entire year in Maine so his attitude doesn’t somehow bring the team down. The veterans don’t need to be dragged down by a charity case no matter how good their mentoring is for him.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Hopefully Al Horford can give this kid a one-on-one pep talk. Ainge is not someone you'd want to mess around with.

But yeah, this isn't an unfixable issue. He just needs proper guidance. I'd be more worried if he suddenly can't dunk or block shots because of something like the yips.
