Slink mentioned keeping our young surrounded by vets so they learn professionalism. Seems Dedmon fits that role and, as such, is probably much more useful than Capela. IMHO, Capela is a Harden-made concoction. Get him out of that spoonenvironment and he probably morphs into Bismack Biyombo.

If you're trading Schroeder and not getting a PG back, Ish Smith is a solid vet pg on an expiring $6M deal. Detroit could trade you Ish and $3M for a top 59 protected second rounder and a TPE.

I’d rather have our own kg as a backup.

See DeAndre Jordon without CP3, that's Capela.
I get that some want ALL of our vets gone but I don't like that idea at all. There is value to their knowledge in games, in practice, how to watch film, how to prepare body and mind, and off the court.

Actually $hit Smith is a guy that can give Trae some valuable little man advice. And I’m not too worried with Ish bringing us wins or anything lol

Hello there, Atlanta forum. Pacer fan here, coming in peace. I have a question. What is your opinion on Taurean Prince? Do you consider him a part of your future core? Do you think that your management is committed to him?

Yes Prince is apart of the Hawks future, but he is not untouchable.

I see. Am I correct in thinking that only Trae Young and John Collins are untouchable?

He played really well in the 2nd half of this year. We like his size and his athletism, his ability to hit from 3. When he's locked in his rebound and defense can be really good, but needs to work on his consistensy in those two areas. His ball handling, ability to run the offense to make a play for himself or teammate improved over the course of the season. Still a work in progess and considered part of our young core going forward.

I see. Thanks for the reply :D

Do you think that he can blossom into an All-Star and the leader of this team or do you see him more like a 2nd-3rd option?

I hope he can blossom into an Allstar :D. He did show leadership at the end of the season when Dennis and Baze were out with season ending 'injuries'
I think Trae and Collins because of their style of play may outshine him.

I said this last year and before, don’t put a ceiling on Prince. Just don’t do it.

Hi guys, sorry if it has already been discussed before, but where would you sit on a Delly + Henson for Bazemore deal?

Henson owed $10.5 / $9.7 mil over the next two years and Delly owed $9.6 mil over the next two. Both solid / serviceable players but not going to win you any games or anything, Delly might have a little value as a vet / mentor behind Trae and solid locker room guy.

Not an amazing return obviously, but the smaller deals could be easier to move in other trades and ends up being similar money over the two years. We would likely be happy to add our 2017 1st round pick DJ Wilson as a small sweetener who most Bucks fans are out on, and could be another young guy to have a look at for the Hawks + some cash? Or would it take draft picks from our side to get it done (which we probably wouldn't be too interested in as we have already dealt a 1st for Bledsoe). Thanks

No thanks. It's an ok offer, but Hawks don't need Henson because Atlanta already has Ded, Collins, and Spell. Hawks also don't need Delly because of Trae and Dennis.

Contract wise, it doesn't help the Hawks, you even admit that the Hawks will have to move the two players later on.

If you want such a deal to proceed, you will have to find a 3rd team to take one of the two or both, plus replace the asset.

I would say it would take first round picks to get it done. The deal adds players at two positions Atlanta doesn't need (another big when we have Collins, Dedmon, Muscala, and Spellman already in the rotation) and another point (with Trae and Dennis). I think that while Bazemore is overpaid, he is still a very legit defender.

I don't think Atlanta forgives Delly for injuring Korver either.

Fair enough, thanks. What if the deal was Delly / Henson and Wilson (if wanted) for Bazemore and Muscala. So Hawks can save $4-5 mil this year as well as having the two expiring deals for next season? I could see your owners maybe liking the money savings this year as well as two smaller expirings for next season.
