Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
Kinda pumped that he is gone. Besides a couple teams i feel the east is wide open for the taking right now.

Re: Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
Eh.
We're a lower end playoff team at best regardless of who else is here. This certainly increases our chance of losing in round 1, but it also makes it harder for us to get what I really want, which is quality talent in the draft via a lottery pick.

We are not tanking though. We are shooting for playoffs. Last time in he swept us. I betcha all of the east just breathed a sigh of relief.

I think a healthy Boston had passed the Cavs by anyway and depending on the moves Philly makes plus the progress of their youth they were going to pass them soon.

Re: Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
Definitey. Lebron straight killed the East since the Pistons 25 pt quarter. Anyone who thinks we're not better without him in the conference is ignorant. Lottery picks aren't gonna do anything for you at this time except for trades. If we don't compete, stars will go elsewhere. We just need a good first half of the season and teams will think we're one away from contending for the Finals. Celtics and 76ers are just two teams, they don't have lebron lol people are crazy. 8 finals in a row and there's no relief? Players will compete very hard for Finals now. Celtics were that good because they believed. The same will happen with other well coached teams. We have an opportunity to get another star this season and we should take it. Tanking is a complete waste of time right now.

Yeah.
I disagree with the goal that we have.
It's the problem I have rooting for this team right now. I don't want playoffs. This team's ceiling isn't nearly high enough to have those sorts of goals.

Re: Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
It certainly helps Detroit’s chances of making the postseason now that LBJ is out west. The central division is less daunting, but the Bucks and Indy will likely improve from last season.
The Pistons are obviously focused on winning now and making the postseason. In that respect, LBJ leaving Cleveland should help make that goal more achievable.

I agree 100%. Im just trying to switch my mind from gm mode to fan mode who wants some playoff action.

You're right they're not good enough. But we have pieces to move more forward than people think. More than a lottery pick that's for sure in my opinion. We can make a trade like how OKC got George and hope to keep the player like how OKC did. We can't keep Jackson, he's not good enough. People think we suck that means the lottery pick is very valuable on our team. We gotta trade it again for a star PG.

Re: Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
Our chances look pretty good. We're probably still behind TOR, BOS, PHI, IND, MIL, WAS. We should overtake CLE and I still can't figure out how MIA won 44 games. None of the teams below us really look like they've improved.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Why would we behind all those teams? I don't understand people. Injuries killed our team and when we were healthy we were #4 with lebron being above us. I don't think people understand the power of chemistry and momentum -> See Boston. You don't need a lot to compete. You just need a good coach and we got the coach of the year.

No, no, no. You're being an overly optimistic homer. You think we're being pessimistic but we're being real. Why are we behind those teams? Because look at their rosters and look at ours. Tell me the team we're better than.

Well Boston is better than us with talent and then I'd say 76ers but that's IF Embiid can play a whole season for once and that's IF Fultz is not a bust which he most likely is with that ugly shot of his. Past that I believe it's all chemistry and momentum. Toronto doesn't have a better roster than us and certainly not the Wizards now with Gortat (Drummond killer) out. I've been watching the NBA for a longgg time to understand coaching is the most important position on the team because it makes teams like Toronto and Celtics succeed with simple effort and cohesiveness. There's no reason to believe we won't get that from our players. It tells me you don't follow the NBA in depth play to play. If you did you'd understand it's more about chemistry and effort. Talent doesn't mean anything if you don't have the right coach and that's what happened to us plus injuries. Idk why people ignore injuries. So ignorant

Sure. A great player now in the West. The only way you ever see him in the playoffs is in the finals. Increases the difficulty of coming out of that conference. Love it.

I'm done talking to you because a majority of your point was to make assumptions about my knowledge of basketball which couldn't have been more off base.
Your actual points are wrong too btw. But I'm just done here. I'm sure come January when this team is toiling in mediocrity, you'll be the first to admit you were looking at them with rose-colored glasses.

Brad Stevens had mediocre talent against Cleveland. Why did they take them to Game 7? Cuz of chemistry. Why can't the same happen for us? Because it's the Piston fan bias.

The Pistons don't really give me a reason to be happy Lebron left the conference, so.. I'm feeling like "whatever".
It'll just makes it potentially more embarrassing if we miss the playoffs again.

Re: Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
I'm torn. I like it when guys stick with their team. I think it's good for the game. Also, if he stayed on the cavs, there would have been 0% chance of him winning a title there.... and since I want him to lose, that would have been a plus.
On the flip side, the cavs will tank pretty hard so a playoff spot opens up in the east. If we are going to trot out a "win now" roster, we may as well get to enjoy some playoff games. It really sucks to be one of the few east teams trying to win and still missing the playoffs.

Re: Anybody Else Happy Lebron Left?
Meh. LeBron leaving the EC, while possibly improving the Pistons’ chances at a playoff spot, doesn’t make the team any better and I hope like hell it doesn’t change what the team does. If Gores does the “ooh—now we have an even BETTER shot” and makes another extreme “win now” move I’ll smash someone’s face.
