All jokes aside I like the pickup. His NBA numbers left a lot to be desired but that is such a small sample size. Dude shot 70% from the ft line his freshman year and 73% his sophmore year. He shot 33% from 3 his freshman year and 38% from the 3 his Sophomore year. Wingspan of 7'6 and athletic. Can't hurt to see what he can do.

Not a bad pickup. Has some nice tools. Could be a guy who could work his way into the rotation.

Overused Twitter joke of the moment: "the best Bryant to ever wear a Lakers uniform."

So this is what Ernie has been saving his precious roster spots for. Good thing we didn't end up with Keita or we might have missed out.

I guess we will see him in summer league? He certainly should get an opportunity with this roster. Thinking back to the 2017 draft I think the knock on him was he was helpless in PNR defense. But his shooting at that size was intriguing. If we couldn’t have Mo Wagner at least we get Thomas Bryant.

If he couldn't find any minutes for the Lakers last year, I'm not all that encouraged. Watching his scouting video, the guy has no lift whatsoever. It looks like he can barely dunk despite his 9'-5" standing reach.

It can't hurt to try him out on the summer league team, but we need a guy who can at least beat out Jason Smith as our 3rd big.

Maybe he can turn into a poor man's Channing Frye.

His freshman numbers in college were very good. Seems like a really good pickup. Got the sense that he was simply a cap/roster spot casualty with the lakers, deciding between Zubac and him.

Yup. That's what this is about.

Actually, yes, he played very well indeed in G League last year -- & his numbers were on @1300 minutes, so they mean something.

Check out his G League highlights -- http://gleague.nba.com/player/thomas-bryant/

He looks somewhat intriguing but I don't think Ernie is capable of finding a diamond in the rough. He got Michael Redd about 20+ years ago but thats it.

Imagine how spry he'll look once he takes those ankle weights off.

I predict CCJ will post a 6 part burst on how he's underappreciated and we should trade him to a team that will tru understand his talents by February

Bryant isn't as glued to the ground as some of you seem to think. Here are the '17 Combine measurements:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2709370-nba-combine-results-2017-friday-measurements-highlights-and-top-prospects

Don't get me wrong... he's not a high flyer. But take a look at Harry Giles, Tony Bradley -- & Moritz Wagner, whom some of you were excited to acquire.

Look at his G League highlights -- ok, obviously they're "highlights" so they show him at his best. But he shoots the 3 well, & he looks to have good court awareness, & he is extremely intense. Nor does he look like he's wearing "ankle weights." Again, he's not a high flyer but he's pretty bouncy in the way he plays. Plus, he is really big & long.

Bryant had a terrific Freshman year. He actually declined some as a Sophomore (don't know why), but he has promise -- he's not even 21 yet, btw.

Oh, I forgot -- soon Ernie will be announcing that "we've had our eye on Thomas Bryant for a while. We actually considered taking him in R1 last year, until someone reminded us that we didn't have a pick. So we were pleased when he became available, & we acted quickly to take advantage of the opportunity."

The fact that we're trying to tell ourselves its ok to drink the Thomas Bryant kool-aid shows just how badly free agency has been for us
