It will be Rondo´s 5th team in less than 4 years after spending 9 seasons here.

Remember the hype after the deadline? And When Isaiah got back there? Before and after the Irving trade and the deadline trade.

Supporting cast 2.0

To Lakers Supporting cast 1.0

Lance
JaVale

How is that team better than either Cavs Supporting cast last season?

Exactly what i was thinking. I dont see how that is much better. Especially in the tougher conference

You think Magic is going to allow Rondo, a guy there for one year of depth and nothing more, to suck up minutes that could be given to Lonzo? Not a shot.

You think Magic is paying him 9 million to sit on the bench? He's not wasting Lebron on developing anything but sure thing rookies, whoever out of Rondo and Lonzo is the most productive will play and I've got my money on Rondo.

We paid Tyler Zeller 9 million to ride the bench as salary ballast. Lakers are preserving their cap space for a run at Kawhi in a years time. That said I think Rondo has a good chance to start because Ball just can’t stay healthy

I think Rondo will start because he is a better player but it's a fair enough point on Zeller. Though if DA was trying to build a team around Lebron I don't think he'd be throwing 9 mil at Zeller to warm the bench.

Lakers are spending like Kawhi ain't coming. It's short term deals but at this point unless they trade Deng to a 3rd team or to SAS they'll struggle to get to that 18-19 mil Kawhi salary even without his trade kicker.
Good assessment:

Pass. Would rather sign Smart for that kind of money.

Ideal scenario is Smart plays for the qualifying offer and we use the rest of the room we have under the luxury tax to sign Jabari Bird to a 2 year deal

Also, Randle getting waived is another competitor for Marcus getting his money.

So, are the Kings the only team with cap space to sign Smart?

Difference was we were capped out and had no other use for that money, so keeping Zeller as a mid-size salary block for matching purposes was just good business. There was no opportunity cost.

LA had absolutely no need to acquire Rondo for that purpose. If they didn't plan on playing him, there are other things they could have done with that 9mil.

No. Look at the Bobby Marks tweet about Randle. Same things apply. Pacers could offer him 12-13 and still have their 4.4 MLE if they prized him over Randle

Edit: For Indiana I was looking at a tweet too and forgot they signed Tyreke. The Marks tweet still applies tho.

Except for the fact that Magic is not a good GM and was gifted into Lebron strictly because of the location of the team and nothing more.

I agree I think he’s a a starter, I don’t think his salary has anything to do with that though.

Not saying Rondo is going to work out.

But I doubt Magic is so bad that he'd give 9mil to someone he had no plans to play, when there are still other uses for that money out there. That's just not credible.
