I can't believe they would be okay with Jose as the main back up and likely starter after Reggie gets hurt again, if they do trade Ish...

Stefanski has was horrible every where he has been. He may have experience but no brains. There is a reason he is working with his 5th franchise.

He just hired the Coach of the Year when that coach could've went on year long vacation paid for. Takes brains to make that move.

I don't get the assertion that this somehow means they're ready to move on from Ish? Ish had some decent 3pt shooting stats towards the end of last season. Ish with a 3pt shot is a nightmare. You'd think the team would want to look before making that kind of decision.

They're somehow getting the message that a trade could be brewing. Maybe it's just Stefanski blowing so much sunshine up Calderon's ass in selling the signing that they're being told he's good enough to be a back-up in the league and they're reading too much into it. Or maybe something is really brewing and Ish's expiring is being added as value Galloway for a 4/5 back-up upgrade.

What $16M PF/Ce's could be had...

There’s no point in dumping Ish unless it’s part of a deal that gets something substantial back or allows us to get rid of long term money, which could make other moves like resigning Bullock or targeting another bargain next offseason possible. Dumping his 6 mill expiring has no value by itself other than to save Gores some money. That’d really piss me off.

Not confortable with Calderon defensively (though I still like him a lot offensively, but winning next year isn’t my priority. I’d have to see what the trade is. If its trading for a backup 4/5 that could be replacing one problem with another. I don’t mind Calderon as a 10-12 mpg guy going against the other teams’ backup, but when Reggie goes down there’ll be suffering.

The only way I’d like the deal is if it netted an asset or dumped Galloway or something like that. No long term money!

If RJ goes down, the team isn't going anywhere. I mean, we aren't going very far with RJ, but the only chance we have of finishing in the top 4-5 is if he and blake are healthy. If either/both miss extended time, there really is no point trying to claw out a few extra wins and maybe compete for the 8th seed. I'm not a huge fan of tanking, but if your "star" players go down on a mediocre team..... just embrace it and bring on the tank.

Yeah, I agree with this. I'm not sure how Drummond escapes mention among the 'essentials', other his ironman reputation to date. If nothing clicks, then playing for development and assessment surely makes sense. Of course, we have no hope because Ed Stefanski, et al, are all losers and such. There's a strong element of serendipity in team chemistry.

Right on, Ish was not part of the problem... One of the few players that you could count on for breaking down a defense... The new found shot was a bonus... Not many better backup PGs available.

Ish was/is one of the better backup PG's in the league, part of the reason we were doing alright early in the season was Ish coming on and blowing by already fatigued defenders. Its a strength of ours, doubt we give it up.

Jose is our new Jameer, nothing to see here.

yeah ish is definitely one of the easiest contracts we have to move because he's:
a) effective (especially if he keeps up his 3 point shooting from the end of last season)
b) relatively cheap at $6 million, and
c) has one year left on his contract

that said, those are all reasons why he should be one of our last resorts to shed cap space.

he would actually be perfect on golden state and i wouldn't be surprised if they go for him hard next offseason.

They will probably get Kawhi with their tax payer MLE after resign Klay Thompson for half of what he is worth on a 1+1 deal.
