There is highly unlikely to be any suitors for Lavine. We should adjust our offer accordingly.
You think the fact that Cousins voluntarily took a $25 million paycut to get an easy ring on a super team is ammo for us to low ball Lavine? I'm not sure in what world those two things are correlated.
There aren't a ton of teams out there with cap space, but there are enough that if we offer him something offensive, he can simply go get a much better deal elsewhere, or take the QO and bolt next year where he'll definitely get way more.
If that's what some posters want anyway I can see trying to get him to leave, but I'm seeing people say we should offer him sub $10 million. You can't seriously think he's going to accept a mediocre offer because of the DeMarcus Cousins situation.
Please source the claim that Cousins took a $25 million paycut.
Maybe triple was a reach but it was well over what he took from the Warriors that’s for sure. Randle was signed I think with MLE and had about 14 million left with the potential to be 17 after they renounced non guaranteed contracts .

Pretty sure his max is in the $30 mil+ range yearly (similar to PGs deal). And if you don't think the Lakers would've gladly given him that to pair him with Lebron, I don't know what to tell you. Are you trying to say his worth on the open market is only $5.3 mil????
Not to mention was their a rumor they might have wanted to offer him 1 year for 24 or something like after Bron but then they went to fill the roster instead so

If the Lakers were offering him $30 million, he'd be a Laker right now.

You don’t think any team was offering him more than 5.3? Lol boogie just being emotional he called this his ace in the hole that he didn’t want to play but sort of did. I don’t believe anything Boogie saying on the contract front

Could he tear an ACL again if both knees were blown out? Then again, now I'd be scared for his meniscus
I'm not a doctor, but whenever you injure something there's usually an increased chance of recurrence, however slight it might be. I don't think that's the worry here though and I wouldn't worry about his meniscus unless there was some involvement already. I don't think an ACL tear necessarily increases the chance of a meniscus tear. I guess my issue is that post ACL, the knee is never the same and if he's had it on both, then.. But then again, I did hear Dr. Cole (who did Rose's surgeries) say the new tech can make the ACL stronger than it already was. Rose's issues are due to his meniscus tears, which I don't think Jabari has. I dunno man, I've had it with Chicago kids and knee issues, though it might be worth the risk for a fair price

I think he could have gotten more than 5.3. If nothing else, he could have gotten the full non-taxpayer MLE.
I don't think he was anywhere near $30 million and probably not even at $20 million anywhere.

I disagree. This wasn't about money. This was about the chance to get a ring. Cousins/Lebron wasn't beating that Warriors team. He'll get his ring this year, then get paid next year.

I'm not sure about the risk of reinjury to ACL, but I do remember during the Rose saga, that a doctor said his ACL was the strongest it's ever been, and if anything he'd have more risk at injuring the other knee.

With what? Unless Kawhi comes, all the big names are gone, and they don't have any money to spend regardless.

Re: Bulls Free Agency - Merged
Bulls doing an amazing job so far.
Dont sign nobody...Including Nwaba...
Let the market dictate Zachs money...If its more than 16M/yr let him walk...tank again...get one year deals in exchange for future picks...I would like to let him walk tbh...
If he does next year Bulls can add 2 max players with a core of:
Lauri
Carter
2019 pick
Dunn
Portis
Hutchison
Valentine
MAX FA
MAX FA
Thats not bad at all imo

Good luck getting 1 much less 2 star players coming to that dumpster fire roster.

They could also do a lot worse... like Rondo, JaVale McGee, and Lance Stephenson.

Pure conjecture. They thought they had PG this off-season and we saw how that worked out.

It's pure conjecture when a Franchise like the Bulls sets their sights on such stars.
When the Lakers do it? Buckle up.

Also more teams will have cap space next year and yes if bulls don’t do well this season then these max free agents will not choose to come here. This was a rare time where the bulls were one of 5 teams with a lot of cap space but didn’t take advantage and they still are trying to sell us the “rebuild” bs. They could have gotten a really solid team together if they wanted to especially now that a lot of players are accepting short term deals.

Re: Bulls Free Agency - Merged
I woke up this morning with a feeling that the Bulls are about to make a substantial offer to 23yr Jabari Parker. That will happen on the day that players can officially sign a contract. His numbers were trending up for every year he had been in the league until that injury. He shot 37 and 38% on three over the last two seasons, with 49% and 35% career fg averages in 2pt and 3pt shots. His explosiveness is still there despite the two surgeries. He is the closest thing to Carmelo Anthony that you are going to get in terms of scoring, and he at least plays within a team concept. Bring the kid back home because next year's free-agency is not promised with too many teams with money.

Do what you can to trade for Lonzo. Bring Deng with him. With Lakers signing Rondo, I see it happening.
Sign Lavine and Jabri. Focus on this FA instead of 2019 where the Bulls historically have swung and missed on big FA.
When healthy, this is a SCARY team with Lonzo running the break with Lavine, Jabari, and Lauri.
Lonzo/Dunn
Lavine/Valnetine/Dunn
Jabari/Hutchison/Valentine
Markkanen/Portis/Jabari
WCJ/Portis/Markkanen
That team is all under 25 and ready to wait out the Warriors. They could probably compete with the Celtics right away if they stay healthy. Health is the biggest factor. Total of 3 torn ACLs in the starting lineup.
