What's Your All-Time Packers Team?

Just toss out your starters, though you can create a depth chart if you want.

I'm not putting in anyone I personally didn't see play - so pretty much everyone before 1993 or so is out. Sorry Don Hutson. Sorry Bart Starr. Sorry Ray Nitschke. Things would be a lot easier at some of these positions if I could slot you in - especially at linebacker, where this team has struggled to find all-pro talent at the same level as some of those old-timers.

Of course, if you want to add in the old-timers, go for it.

Offense:
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Ahman Green
FB: William Henderson
WR1: Sterling Sharpe
WR2: Jordy Nelson
WR3: Donald Driver
TE: Mark Chmura
OT: Chad Clifton
OT: David Bakhtiari
OG: Marco Rivera
OG: Josh Sitton
C: Frank Winters

Defense:
DE: Reggie White
DE: Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila
DT: Gilbert Brown
DT: Santana Dotson
OLB: Clay Matthews
OLB: Julius Peppers
ILB: Nick Barnett
ILB: Desmond Bishop
CB: Charles Woodson
CB: Al Harris
CB: Tramon Williams
SS: LeRoy Butler
FS: Nick Collins

Special Teams:
K: Mason Crosby
P: Craig Hentrich
LS: Rob Davis
KR/PR: Desmond Howard

That's pretty good. I'd probably have Lofton in at a WR position. I would probably put Ken Ruettgers on the line. It sucks that he got hurt his final season and didn't get to play in the SB. Mark Murphy and Chuck Cecil were a great pair at safety, not sure if they would beat our Butler and Collins. James Campen was center before Winters, I might give him the nod.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Man it's pathetic how bad our LBs have been if you have to have Peppers, Barnett, and Bishop in there.

To be fair, Peppers is a HOFer and Bishop showed flashes of being a very good ILB before his career was cut short. A Pick-Six on Favre and a recovery of the game-changing fumble in the Super Bowl stick out in my mind. Barnett had some flashes, too.

But I felt the same way about including those guys, tbh. I looked back to see if there was anyone else to include instead? AJ Hawk? Bernardo Harris? George Koonce? Brian Williams? Seth Joyner? Aaron Kampman?

I wasn't saying you were wrong or criticizing your list, just saying it's pathetic those guys are the best of the last 30 years or so. And Peppers is a HOF because of his work elsewhere not with us IMO. I remember Barnett for racking up a lot of tackles and over celebrating his lack of impact plays. Bishop was amazing for a very short stretch it sucks that he tore his hamstring.

I'd have to add

FB Jim Taylor
WR Boyd Dowler
WR James Lofton
RG Jerry Kramer
RT Forrest Gregg

MLB Ray Nitschke
DT Mike McCoy
SS LeRoy Butler

K Jan Stenerud

but I surely hate to argue some of those over the OP, on the other hand, for a few of them ...

Thanks for including Paup. Maaan, forgot all about JWalker...man that guy had talent...just went all deep end weird...but sounds like he's well, so there's that. Does he really beat out Jordy, DD, and Free though?

Nobody is putting Timmerman at Guard or Newsome at the other CB slot or Freeman at WR if we're only talking about players we've seen play? Odd

Honestly the dline should just be a copy and paste of the dline from 96

Javon Walker as a talent >>>>>> Jordy but as far as their legacy Jordy blows him away. I still remember that play he got injured on though. What a shame.

I loved Javon Walker - I thought he was going to be a stud here. He just could never stay healthy. No way he gets in over Jordy, or Jennings, or Freeman for that matter.

My version was basically trying to build the best team of guys in there prime. Javon in his career year was prime Dez. As far as Vonta leach over Hendo, dude was just a straight up battering ram. Henderson was jack of all trades/master of none.

People don't actually think Newsome was good, right?

The biggest thing I remember about Craig Newsome was that he went the whole season - until the Super Bowl - without drawing a DPI. Then, he drew one on Glenn and that was that.

I always perceived Doug Evans to be a better corner than Newsome. And Al Harris, Tramon Williams, and obviously Charles Woodson were better than him. He was drafted in 1995, had one good year in 1996, a very solid SB, and was out of the league by 1999. That doesn't match the resumes of the other three, IMO.

To be fair, Newsome's name was featured in the Packarena song.
