Clearly, they are showing faith in him and betting on him, and they hope he will reward their loyalty. I wonder if the contract is fully guaranteed.

Seems like a high risk high reward move. Exum still has a lot of upside. Unfortunately Smart is who is so this price going to be tough to swallow.

What exactly has Exum shown to make anyone believe he has a lot of upside? He doesn't excel in any one particular area and looks lost more often than not on the court. I feel like people are just using his draft position to justify his "upside" at this point.

Indiana is going to be a nice little team next season

Lance just got upgraded. Who did they lose apart from him and AlJeff?

nah don't see where the upside is with his, but I think you are on to something if there is a team option for years 2 and 3, for a trade they could do in the future.

No idea why Utah overpaid Exum like that.

Exum is basically Hayward (or is he better?) for about a third of the cost. EoY move right there.

He has one of the best first steps in the league and is a plus defender.

I wonder if Smart will just take a 1 year deal here and try again next year. Is that a possibility?

I just put my question in the Marcus thread as well. Didn’t see it at first. Well I’d imagine his other option would be to sign long term. I’m just curious if he’d rather do that or sign for one year and then try FA again next year.

loserX (Utah mod) speculated on the T&T board that Jazz could potentially waive Jerebko (fully non-guaranteed) if they can find someone MLE worthy they like better.

He'd be a solid known quantity for us. Shot .414 from 3 last year, in 2.1 attempts.

I love Jerebko but... I don't think we have room for him anymore.

Yeah, we don't really. It would have to be a depth-anticipating-later-moves signing.

I saw Exum live this year. He is legit if he stays healthy.

Bobby Marks seems like an humble, hard working guy. I would like to relate to him an hilarious anecdote I heard the other day, but my mind is preoccupied by an horrific accident I saw this afternoon. A young woman was riding an horse on the side of the road, when an heckler shouted something from a passing car. The horse got spooked and took an hard right onto the road, directly in front of an Hyundai Accent. It was not pretty. The bystanders made an heroic effort, but the car could not be saved.
