I guess they just want to maximize Aldridge's time there, but honestly, I think that's stupid. They aren't competing with Golden State without Kawhi. Might as well just go for young talent/picks rather than becoming a treadmill team.

Why are the spurs so interested in becoming a treadmill team? They are clearly gonna need to rebuild once kawhi leaves. They would be morons to turn down a haul of valuable picks just so they can stand a slightly better chance squeezing into that 7th-8th seed. Plus they would get good players. Smart Rozier Morris... What's funny is that the Spurs have never, ever been in this position before. They have never had to trade a star player, so it's entirely possible they genuinely just don't know how to handle it.

Why did the celtics even engage the spurs. What they offering is unfair. Yes i understand that Kawhi only has one year in his contract, and also healthy wise but in no way is what the celtics offering close to equal value. It is almost insulting.

I know celtics had kawhi, and he asked to be traded and the spurs inquired about him, i would want either Jayson Tatum, or Jaylen Brown, and either the kings or memphis pick. Rental or not Kawhi is at least worth Jaylen Brown. There is smart negotiating, and there is being disrespectful and trying to take adavantage of you negotiating. I have said this but if the celtics keep this up, other teams would hesitate to do business with them, some might even refuse.

How do you refuse to offer Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown etc, and expect the spurs to tell you ok we will trade our star player, franchise player for a bunch of picks. That is unfair. Celtics shouldn't have approached the spurs if all they were offering were a bunch of picks.

I want the celtics to get kawhi, i do but with what they are offering, it has an almost zero percent chance of happening. Moving on.The team is almost going to be the same from last year. It is what it is, just get ready for next season.
