None of the starters are on the table per Woj.

Danny willing to go pick heavy, but San Antonio wants good players in return. Want to continue making playoffs, no interest in rebuilding.

Is it even possible? How can we match his salary without including one of the starters?

With a Smart S/T, neither Tatum nor Brown matches Kawhi salary... Morris + Rozier are at 8.4m combined, a resigned Smart at 11+ millions makes the deal possible.

Anyway SA did make the PO without Kawhi this year and next year they will have room for a max contract. To me it's not too bad if they stay with Parker-Smart-Gay-Gasol-Aldridge-Mills-Rozier-Morris-Green-Murray and some journeyman for a year and then make a run for Towns or Klay Thompson while having 2 high draft picks.

He is crazy if he wants to stay out West. Enjoy being swept in the playoffs. I dont understand how he is not keen to come here. I mean other than GSW its his best chance at winning and being dominant.

1) Potentially best team in the East
2) Strong roster
3) Youth
4) Best Coach in League
5) Winning culuture
6) Great system

As a professional basketballer wouldnt those be the things you want.

I know celtics had kawhi, and he asked to be traded and the spurs inquired about him, i would want either Jayson Tatum, or Jaylen Brown, and either the kings or memphis pick. Rental or not Kawhi is at least worth Jaylen Brown. There is smart negotiating, and there is being disrespectful and trying to take adavantage of you negotiating. I have said this but if the celtics keep this up, other teams would hesitate to do business with them, some might even refuse.

How do you refuse to offer Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown etc, and expect the spurs to tell you ok we will trade our star player, franchise player for a bunch of picks. That is unfair. Celtics shouldn't have approached the spurs if all they were offering were a bunch of picks.

We literally got Kyrie Irving on the strength of a draft pick because we refused to offer Tatum or Brown, and that was before Tatum and Brown became what they are now.

I remember when Celtics made the trade With Nets thinking man not a lot of sizzle to that I hope those picks then out. And low and behold that pick heavy deal ended up fast forwarding a rebuild for the Celtics. Instead of taking back B players and being a 4-8 treadmill team Danny has built a monster with picks. Spurs could do the same with making great picks. 3 first round picks, 1 second and 2 rotational players and filler is more than enough IMO

No one is going to want to sign in San Antonio. They couldn't even attract free agents when they were at their peak (Aldridge was the only one); let alone now.

God the GB is a **** cesspool. They're now debating Saric is a better player than Kuzma or Ingram, another poster has Kuzma better than Saric. Felt so dumb reading those. Stupid gets countered by stupid.

The reason DA will not trade one of the 5-players top players is that Leonard will not commit or think of signing long term. Why should Boston trade Brown, etc without assurances, that would be foolish. If Leonard signed a 2-year extension, what would change the compensation package Boston will give up. Until that happens its a NoGo or any of our top 5 players.

I keep sitting down and trying to figure this out. Saying to myself, "Obviously we're not going to give up the farm, and obviously San Antonio's not going to take a nothing burger, so what's a fair compromise?"

And I keep giving up after about two minutes. As long as we have reason to believe he's set on LAL, I'm not giving up any of Brown, Tatum or the Sac pick. And, for someone of Leonard's caliber, those are the only there assets that really matter. I don't see them accepting any combination of lesser picks and players, no matter how much raw quantity we try to shovel into the deal.

Since I haven't heard otherwise, I assume SAS still hasn't given us permission to speak with Leonard directly? If they want us to up our offer, one would think that they would do that, unless they know we're not going to like what we hear. So that's the only conclusion I can draw: that we wouldn't like what we heard.

So I'm at a point where I'm not just skeptical that there's a deal - I'm almost certain there's not one.

Yea I remember you saying the bolded last season. It was stupid then, it's ****ing stupid now.

Are the Lakers being "disrespectful" for not offering Kuzma, especially considering they're the team Kawhi supposedly wants to end up on? What about the Sixers not offering Fultz, when it's been reported Kawhi would consider re-signing with them? Kawhi seems to be least interested in the Celtics outta the 3 teams and yet you're giving Danny the most grief for not overplaying his hand. You mind explaining that to us?

Said differently: If you always give the other team what they ask for, everyone will love to do business with you. And you'll never win a damned thing.

Philly will pivot and go after Jimmy Butler very soon.

Honestly, Saric, Covington and a first or two may get him.

Good, if the Sixers get Butler instead of Kawhi ill be ecstatic. Imagine the lack of spacing with Simmons, Butler, and Embiid.

Celtics can't sign him in free agency next summer right?

Unless they choose not to re-sign Kyrie and/or Horford if they opt out?

Well, I met Greg Popovich today. ( I respectfully did not ask him about Kahwi. And he seemed to appreciate it)

One town to the north, the streets are filled with families and vacationers. One town to the south, the streets are filled with families and vacationers.

The town in the middle is ghost town. A quaint Maine shipping/boating town, but not really a vacation destination. Who is literally the only person sitting on the bench on main street? Greg Popovich. (He lives in the area)

I approached him, and told him I appreciated all he has given to the game, and to the world with his wisdom and timely/insightful views on social issues. I also mentioned how beautiful his system is to watch, and that it has always been a pleasure to see his teams play. He said that it was "very flattering".

He made classic pop joke when i first approached and said "haha sorry to bother you". He laughed and responded with "usually maine is a pretty good hiding spot for me, i love it here"

He asked me "what do you do" and i gave him my background, and my relation to the celtics. We spent most of the rest of our brief conversation talking about murray, and how foolish so many NBA teams were for overlooking him. He thinks "murray is really going surprise a lot of people some day"

I did not ask him for a selfie, because i hate that BS, but I did sneak snap this pic as I approached him.

This roster is championship quality as it is right now. I expect brown and Tatum to be very good. I hope we get smart back because of his defensive prowess. I think we can give golden state a series.

Were you in Bath Maine? I've been there. And is he talking about Dejounte Murray?
