What he probably is, is a solid starter that can make the all star team due to the weakened EAST, and one that has delusions of grandeur that out pace his output on the floor.

I think if he simply plays within himself and willingly defers to Lauri, he'll become a fan favorite fast.

I don't know, I find it really hard to imagine LaVine as the 2nd option on a legit contender. He'd have to make a huge jump. Not impossible, but not very likely either. Besides, regular season is one thing. We don't even know how he responds in playoff environment, that's a completely different animal.

This whole thing is very weird for me. I basically don't care. I'm not sure I've ever felt that way about such a potentially significant signing. I am 100% without a firm opinion or even a strong leaning. I find the arguments on both sides compelling. If Sacto gives him a big offer, and he leaves or if Chicago signs him and he stays, I will feel pretty much the same either way.

I guess the only thing I'd strongly prefer is that we sign him to a 2 year deal, second year being a team option, and kick the can on this thing. Other than that, I'm not sure I care one way or another about the variety of other options.

Pretty much the only outcome that I'd hate to see is him getting like a 4 years/90+ million, other than that I really don't feel strongly about any other potential outcome.

I wouldn't get too down about it. The Bulls definitely would have had a few more years of contending in the East with an explosive Rose that would have been great to watch. And that's no small thing. Its what you hope for as a fan.

But Derrick Rose wasn't going to pull a LeBron and age like fine wine. He wouldn't have aged well at all and we would have ended up paying him at some point for several years of a diminishing returns contract. And I'm not saying that as sour grapes even though I can't stand the guy. A lot of us were saying before he ever got hurt that once his explosiveness faded he'd decline rapidly.

Every team has a third leading scorer. The part that I highlighted is key to my post.

We need to add 2 serious players next offseason ( or Lauri becomes one of them) that ORGANICALLY push Zach to the 3rd best scorer.

I did take that into account. LaVine's shot selection sucked, but it was clear he was also chucking to make up for the minutes limit. That's not to say he doesn't have a clear issue with decision-making on offense (because he does) but it's not really a huge shock that his efficiency tanked.

Booker shoots even more than LaVine and has good efficiency, so this would be a massive, massive difference, and make them not "near twins".

Booker's production despite being healthier doesn't impress me significantly to be cool with $32M per. That makes him the 4th highest paid player at his position with zero indication that he's actually a franchise player.

I wouldn't have paid Booker the max either.
