I agree, but KP tailed off quite a bit before he got hurt. He started to come on again before the injury, but yeah if he kept that streak going he'd be MIP for sure. A whole season of that he;d have been in the running for MVP. If he can come back and even do 80% of that on a more consistent basis he's a top player in the league. I think he'll get there.

It's the games where he was jacking up 3s and ending up with 13, to 17 pts that killed it. Man I can't wait to see what the new offense looks like.

i think its fair to say he's got the potential to be a franchise cornerstone. Like Towns. Or Embid but Embid has lead his team to the playoffs, made an all-star starting team, etc

KP hasn't

he was an all star and nearly a starter last year but got hurt

I think KP can be a superstar, franchise player, cornerstone, free agent draw, whatever you wanna call it

he's got to recover and show his open of the season wasn't a fluke though

by next summer when we are gunning for free agents or making a trade for big names I think he will have shown that
plus hopefully Frank and Knox will have shown value as well

if we can hold off on maxing and extending KP, move some contracts to make a max deal for Kawhi or Butler and then make a trade for either Kyrie or Lillard we would be in great position

that would leave us needing to renounce the rights to Kanter of course

Yes, and hopefully KP can come back next season and finish off super strong. That could be the difference between a FA coming to NY or going elsewhere.
I think NY, with a healthy and superstar caliber KP, a top 10 pick, Knox, Frank, Fiz and whoever else has a good shot with the max slot to fill it with a true superstar

pretty bad timing this season. lakers willing to pay a lot and have a lot to pay. to outbid that...takes too much.

We currently can create one max slot by stretching Noah and not having to many other moves. In order to get that 2nd max guy, our best bet will be tanking super hard next year to get a top 3 pick and using that pick along with fillers in a sign-and-trade for the 2nd guy. For example, we somehow get the 1st pick and the Spurs still have Kawhi and Kawhi wants NY. We can trade the 1st overall pick (RJ Barrett), Hardaway, and another pick for Kawhi. This way the Spurs get SOMETHING and don't lose him for nothing to the Lakers. Food for thought.

How do you think you get from lottery to contender? You can’t skip steps.

I am the last person to trade picks, but trading essentially one pick for a player like Lillie’s while simultaneously shedding Hardaway’s salary would be a good trade. And we would still be able to add pieces.

I could see that. He's been frustrated for a bit now. Portland won't give him up easily though.

anyone who considers an unprotected 2019 pick in trade doesn't understand whats happening here

our 2019 season is without KP, with a developmental coach and lots of young guys

we might be a top 5 bad team and if so we could be adding a major asset to this team next summer

how the f are you trading that pick?

I wouldn't do it. I'm not high on Dame but Portland hangs up at anything less than that so this is a pipe dream. They're not going to give him away without salary relief, talented youth, and picks. If we don't include Frank or Knox, they'll want to up the pick potential.

Ball Kuzma 1st for Dame

Ingram Hart Wagner 1st for Leonard

Let the West become even more insane

Lol people seriously saying they don't want/like Lillard? That is insane to me. Don't realistically think Knicks can do it though without giving up too much.

There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

What does he mean a 2nd star? CJ is a great player from the few times I've seen him no?

As for the rumors, no thanks I don't want to **** up finally doing a proper rebuild by trading away the very limited assets we already have.

But these rumors are good, keep em swirling until next years FA and maybe we'll actually get some good players.

I'd say he's somewhere in the middle. Yes he's a scoring point guard but he's not a **** blind ball hog ala Rose.

Nah honestly, I thought CJ was good. I don't really watch the TBs much so I don't know but I thought he broke out last year along side Dame?

Unless you mean another part of the post, either way no shade intended.
