Without LaVine we are almost guaranteed a top 5 pick. Awesome, if I'm the Bulls you take your time with Carter and Hutchinson. Give Payne, Valentine, and Felicio as much time as they need. Trade Lopez for a young SG

If Chicago offered $18m, I see them matching this.

Yeah, well I just hope Pax and Gar have studied the analytics on Lavine and don't just make a decision on his highlight reel dunks, or the 35 pt game he had last year when he went toe to toe with Jimmy Butler and came out on top.

Does the $20 million a year version of Zach LaVine come with a defensive upgrade?

Let's warm up the "thanks Vlade" thread because this makes the decision a no brainer.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

$80 million? On ESPN it says $78 million. Still a lot of money.

At this price I'll back his bags myself.

It's a steep price, no doubt, but he was the centerpiece of the Butler deal, and it would really suck to only get to see one year of a guy who was just coming off ACL surgery.

I also don't think the Bulls should be letting young players they value walk for nothing at the beginning of their rebuild. If they have to overpay some, so be it, IMO. The free agency game has never worked for them, and probably won't as long as Forman/Paxson are there, unfortunately.

A Recent History of Kings SG's:

Trade DeMarcus Cousins and the centerpiece is Buddy Hield, a shooting guard.

Trade down in a draft and the centerpiece is Bogdan Bogdanovic, a shooting guard.

Pass on Donovan Mitchell, because you're set at shooting guard.

Sign Zach Lavine.

Ok

Ofcourse Kings had to do it,now they screw the bulls either way. If they match then have to have lavines 20 mill in cap space,if they don’t they lose Lavine and his potential. Tough decision for Gar and pax,but if they can sign Hood/Smart on short deals then just let go of Lavine.

Sunk cost. Rebuild will only be hampered committing this much money to bad players.

This changes nothing. We’re still planning to suck for one more year and play the lottery.

If we plan to suck I assume we’re matching. We all know he sucks on defense but his offense was wildly overrated and messed up Lauri’s.

Seriously if one more person mentions that he was some important part of the butler trade I'm going to go crazy. That is absolutely of zero consequence to whether or not it's a good decision to match him.

I will fully acknowledge that he could make this deal look like a steal but I absolutely would not match it and whatever happens happens. I think there's probably a 80% chance that it's a significant overpay and maybe if I'm being generous a 20% chance that it's a good value contract.

I just dont like the years and lack of options. Id be able swallow 3/60m with the last year a player option but not 4 straight years

Once the price-tag exceeded 17.25M per IMO, we were overpaying IMO.
Once you get as high as Sac was willing to go, you need that player to make a positive impact on the defensive side of the game.
20M is way too much for a 1 dimensional player that believes he's something that he's not.

I WOULD like to get SOMETHING for him. How would a sign-and trade work for Buddy Hield?

Does anybody know?
