Don't forget about Hutchison. I imagine he's going to move ahead of Grant in the rotation. Will also be interesting to see what we do with Nwaba now.

Honestly, I think we keep Nwaba on a long term contract as well. We value character guys. And defense...he's both of those things.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get 36-40 wind this season. And add a Max FA. Most likely, we'll also extend Lopez next offseason.

Sounds like Bulls are rebuilding the Skiles version of the team. Young talent with experienced vets.

I actually think we're going to make the playoffs. The East is weak and whether people like to acknowledge it or not, this team had a very nice string of wins before we got serious about tanking.

Hey, if you see the same thing in Zach LaVine and Tyrus Thomas, I can't do anything for ya ;)

No joke, I'd take 2008 Tyrus than 2018 Zach if that could happen.

That's like telling me you'd take Rebel Wilson over Anna Kendrick if that could happen.

Bulls still have room for 2 MAX guys next off season and most likely they will end up landing 1 or none at all. Bulls are in a good position with good young players who have the potential to be all-stars.

Yes, all Bulls fans will be happy if Lavine becomes a star.

We can make an educated guess based off what he's done so far in his career about his star potential, and many don't see it.

I have no problem being wrong, and for the sake of this team I hope I am, but I don't think Lavine will be worth the money he's being paid.

If LaVine can be good enough to be a third scorer on a legit playoff team, then we should be relatively content with this signing. Hopefully Lauri and LaVine can be a the second and third best players on a contender and we're able to find that clear cut franchise guy via free-agency or draft next year.

I think the rationale for most fans who question this contract is, why should we believe Zach will be this star? When he is so far from it currently? Because he played 39mpg for a bottom 7 team in the league and put up 19ppg doing so before he blew out his ACL? Statistical analysis obviously has evolved far beyond praising guys on raw numbers alone. And there is not much to like when you get to that point.

That's why it's like, ok sure if he becomes a star obviously we'd be happy. But why should we believe he will become a star anymore than we'd say Bobby Portis or David Nwaba will become a star? The reality until he proves otherwise is he has currently been a barely average to below average NBA player, coming off an ACL injury, who will now be guaranteed 20M a year for the next 4 years.

It's also hard for me to believe in the 2 max boat plan. When have we ever successfully signed a single premiere free agent, let alone two? Year after year, we settle for Boozer, Ben Wallace, or D Wade's AARP-edition.

I've got feelings of ambivalence here as well, but I don't think teeth gnashing/garment rending is warranted. Yet.

Are people worried about the tank? I get the sense that the concern is more about tying up so much money into a guy that we're all sort of lukewarm about.

Zach is going to laugh all the way to the bank, but he better clean up his act on the court. If he continues to ballhog and play poor defense, he’s going to hear it from the fans. He’s put a target on himself now by signing this contract.

You know, I don't personally see a "star" player when I look at Klay Thompson. Instead I see a guy who has found a system that works amazingly well for him. If LaVine can go back to hitting three's at a 39% clip, raise his overall FG%, go back to have a 58% TS%, then I think he could be useful to us in a "third star" type of manner. I don't see star potential for LaVine in the traditional sense either, but I do think he's a talented player and that there's a system out there that can get the most out of him.

The string of wins actually ended right when Zach came back. Coincidentally Lauri and Dunn's play fell off a cliff then as well.

It's not uncommon for a scorer coming back from a big injury to mess up chemistry. Zach was part of the issue, but so was Dunn's injuries and the loss of Niko.

Having a training camp with the team is hugely important. I believe he'll gel better with everyone this season.

My concerns are that Lavine sees himself as the best player and number 1 option. Not sure if or when that mentality will change if or when he doesn't live up to it.

I'm hoping he's more under control next season as well as far has his decision making is concerned.

Definitely wanted him for that 15M per price tag...hard to say I would not have matched at 20...

Not too thrilled though

More of the latter, some of the former.

I guess I'm willing to wait and see. I still think Lavine has talent and work ethic; and the Bulls brass has a lot more insight and data with respect to Zach than the little I can infer from the few dozen games he played last year.

I have the sense he's going to be a volume scorer to the tune of 22ppg. He may sniff a few all-star votes. I do think there could be a role for him on a high level play-off team - as an off the bench scorer. I view Zach as a suped-up Jamal Crawford. Do I want him making decisions? Nooooooo. Queue the Michael Scott meme, noooooooo.

That's not how impact numbers work.

It's not like you can load your team with nothing but net negative players and win a negative amount of games. LaVine is the kind of talented but dumb net negative player that will have an occasional great game that will win you a game (like his revenge game against MInnesota) but will generally help you lose games.

Basically this franchise just locked up $80million for a guy that helps you win 27 games instead of 25.

The player Lavine is and has been in the past is easily and cheaply replaced with Blakeney at a fraction of the cost.

The player people hope Lavine becomes would require a brain where there is none.

Not my money so idc about the 4/78. They had to resign him. From what we’ve read it’s it’s front loaded. Let’s be real we’re not signing 2 max next year. Even if we get one it’ll be a miracle.

He did suck last year. Just terrible basketball and stupid shot selection. Def needs to improve.

As far as I’m concerned this is Lauris team anyway. We’ll go as far as he does in winning and attracting future talent.

Dunn play fell off because he got knocked out nearly a month two games after Zach debuted . Lauri hit a shooting slump pre Zach and post Zach and had a few good games to end the year but he missed a few games too once Zach returned cuz of Injury.
