Other TEAMS outrebound us because we only have one real athletic big in Allen, and he's only a slender rookie.

Replacing him with another player isn't going to dramatically change things. Our whole roster needs to become taller and more athletic, especially at the 4 and 5 spots. When we have 3-4 proper big men (like most other teams), we will no longer get killed on the boards.

My argument is they need to add another center with Jarret Allen to help the rebounding not replace him.

They can use an upgrade at power forward as well but you gotta crawl before you walk. 6'8 players shouldn't be your first option at center unless they're something special Acy is a great teammate but he has to play too many minutes imo. The first step is adding another legit big in the draft.

no it isnt, its probably the lowest priority and its more likely we add a gaurd or wing at 29 then a big. also, a center isnt going to help with rebounding much, the issue is more that we go small with a pair of 6'7" forwards and put little emphasis on rebounding as a priority as a team.

but hey, lets waste our draft pick and cap space on rebounds, and go against our entire philosiphy and plan! brilliant!

Being in "talent acquisition mode" I'd be cool with all 3 of Gordon, Nurkic, and Capela. Probably in that order of preference. Nurkic and Capela may mean you need to make a trade involving Allen down the line, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it since we are in talent acquisition mode and his value isn't going anywhere.

I really see no reason why we should be spending big bucks on centers when we have Allen on a rookie deal

I think that alot of these predictions went according to plan. But I am surprised at how many young positive contributors are still on the board. I think older vets and their agents recognized that their was a shortage in available FA money, a financial sort of musical chairs. Young players fresh off of their rookie deals probably expected their first GIANT payday, and instead are waiting for offers that are almost sure not to come anymore.

As it concerns the Nets, I wish we had bid on Kyle Anderson. I thought that his efficient play-making and versatile defending would have slotted perfectly next to Rondae. I expected him to garner an 8-figure salary, and at the $9mil/year that MEM has offered, it's an even better bargain. He is the one elite (top 5 free agent SF) that I thought we had a chance to snag.

I still believe that Ferrell and Smart can be difference makers off the bench for someone, but unless we make a pre-move, we're probably better off staying away from smaller guards.

I'm surprised that Nurkic and Capela haven't drawn offers concrete interest yet, either. I know that the traditional C is less valuable now, but these 2 have managed to make a high impact on the court even despite this evolution. POR and HOU seem content to play the waiting game, and both players may end up signing their QO's.

The one unsigned player remaining from my original poll is the player I'm interested to see if we pursue: Montrezl Harrell. I'm not sold on how 2 non-shooters like he and Rondae both fit in our system, but both are efficient scorers despite not being shooters. Harrell would have made more sense before signing another PF/C in Ed Davis, but I still think we could use cover at the 5. He's an RFA, but the Clippers are toying with making a run at Kawhi at the moment, and are trying to keep their payroll as clear as possible for a possible trade. I'll bet they don't match a smaller (3 years, $22mil) deal.

I'm geeked about FA, but I've typed enough. What are your thoughts?
