bull your front office knew anything, they went after a 3rd S.G (probably your strongest position) when you have so many other glaring holes on your roster (you have no starting quality S.F. and your best centre is WCS). and don't say positionless basketball because all 3 of them would get eaten alive playing S.F. or guarding proper small forwards.

This contract has every chance of being the next Chandler Parsons type deal, an ACL is no joke, especially at that age.

You haven't proven yourself very knowledgeable on this matter.

1. Lavine is much younger than either Parsons or Gallo. Parsons was 28 when he signed his deal and had already had 3+ seasons missing nearly 20 games. Gallo is an injury nightmare that's no secret and has been an issue for years and years. Lavine had 1 injury and other than that has stayed healthy.

2. How the hell do you know what vlade knew? Lavines agent (long time agent, many clients including former King pg collison) could have brought vlade a contract from the bulls showing 4/72 and said listen we know they match we need your help and next year when Oubre and a few of my other guys are up I'll return the favor.

You dont think agent/GM relationships are important? And if we did get lavine, you are wrong about bogdan. Long term hes a small forward. In this versatile nba where wings are wings and forwards are forwards it's a joke to say a guy whose 6'6 is incapable of playing on the wing. Lets go ask stevens and ainge what they think about that. Or Morey and Meyers who are playing centers who are 6'7 and 6'6

even if Bogdan is a S.F. (which is a mistake since he's playing S.G. now) are you really going to sacrifice Hield completely.

Why not get an actual small forward and build a team instead of this 4D chess the Kings are trying (they've been trying to be too cute with their picks and signings for years, with almost all of them backfiring).

Believe me I'm with you. But between 1-3 you have 144 minutes. If fox/lavine/buddy/bogdan get 30 minutes each that still leaves time for a traditional sf. But I dont think it's a mistake to play bogdan or hield at the 3, we will see but I believe they are both plenty capable of guarding your Arizas, Gay, Iggy, Gallo etc.. not lebron and pg13 but nobody is equipped for that

The bulls matching is/was obvious. Maybe they could offer Bogdan for him.

Is there a moratorium on RFA signings, preventing them from getting dealt immediately after? I can't seem to remember and I'm drunk.

I believe players who get signed during the offseason can’t be traded until December 15th.

Bulls somehow one upped the Kings in the stupidity department. Amazing. The kid, used optimally, isn't anything more than an inefficient microwave off the bench who doesn't play defense, and now he's making 80 mil. Unbelievable.

Now, go and prove me wrong. Be the Zach who took down the Timberwolves, ok? Ok.

I remember that one game last year that he looked like he was worth this contract, too.

If he played like that all the time, he'd be a value contract at 20 mils.

What worries me the most is his bbiq, or lack thereof. That has made him a net negative in his career so far. I could live with his poor defence, but poor bbig makes me cringe.

Hoiberg should tell him to pass, drive or shoot, but not, under any circumstances, to stop and pound the rock.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

Giving 20 mill a season to a *slightly* better than average at best SG is no way to rebuild
The Suns just gave more to a slightly better than average SG.

I disagree, I think that Bookers ceiling is much higher than Lavines IMO.

Booker- 25/5/5
Lavine- 16/3/3

David Griffin was on his SiriusXM show today talking about this - he said this deal was about Sacramento doing a favor for LaVine’s agent who was having a hard time getting what he wanted from Chicago.

Also said the deal had a really team favorable clause in it to protect against LaVines knee having a problem, so it was very “matchable” to the point that they knew Chicago would do it. Basically Sac really never had any intention of signing LaVine.

Just interesting stuff.

Even nurkic, at least he’s had stretches showing he could be an impact player.

Im pretty sure the Kings knew they would match. 19 million dollars with the way the cap is rising every year isn't some huge disaster  people are SO dramatic when it comes to the Kings. What they did was just take another competitor out of the market in terms of cap space. Doesn't mean anyone will sign here, but we can absorb contracts through trades if we so choose. Not seeing the big deal here and Chicago absolutely should match. Its not the super max for Gods sake

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure if our front office is that clever.

its not just Vlade. we have plenty of guys surrounding him that have been doing this for years. PDA was the worst of ALL time for us, but people forget about that. Vlade has been eons better

I hope not.

What they need to do is acquire a 1st round pick. Take a salary dump and acquire some picks. I don't think they have a 1st round pick next year.

true, but i dont think next years draft is looking too hot anyway

it's official.

in a universe of overpaid overhyped basketball players, lavine is the paradigm - he just made "around the horn"

best quotes...
tim cowlishaw -"the statute of limitations has run out on his dunk contest"
woody paige - "he's a quadruple single waiting to happen"

Hindsight 20/20, but maybe letting ZL walk and trading for Alec Burks or a Heat 2 guard would've been a better idea? Too soon to tell and perhaps ZL becomes a 23ppg 5rb 4apg guy for CHI.

So they took the risk of potentially flushing 80 mil down the toilet and getting a player they don't even want (and even if his knee works out it's not sure he's worth that contract) only to do an agent a favor? Vlade gonna Vlade
