We Want the Monk: The Malik Monk Thread

Post#1001 » by JMAC3 » Mon Jun 4, 2018 3:03 pm

I think we need to worry less about this guys position and just find ways to get him on the floor. Watching his highlights this dude has more shot creating and shot making skills then 80% of guards in this league. He just needs to learn to be more efficient, he is a younger more athletic McCollum.

His playmaking is actually solid, but seems to me struggles with more of the game management and setting up offense from a point guard role. Play him at the 2 but give him the ball in pick and rolls, let Batum, Kemba and whoever else initiate the offense and let him do what he does best.

He can easily be a 20 ppg guy in this league with his jumper, he needs no air and could rival curry and Thompson for the respect you would have to give him. Once he learns a better shot selection I think he should start.

I can't believe some of you are giving up on him after 1 season

Particularly with the ultra bad development staff that we had in his season

Not to mention he missed most of the offseason

I think he can be every bit as good as CJ McCollum in a couple years

dude scored 42 points less thank frank nti up in new york with 800 fewer minutes lol

the kids got flaws but what rookie doesn't? i've seen guys here defend way worse rookies here for longer (me included)- not even counting the fact that clifford thought that one of the worst seasons in history courtesy mcw needed to happen over giving the kid some playing time.

I think Monk can be a baller for us. Just needs some coaching and experience. Should be paired with a tall PG though.

I'm more interested in Monk playing PG, paired with a 2nd ball handler/passer (Batum); than finding a tall PG to play next to Monk while he plays SG.

Can't wait to see this guy with the training wheels taken off. It's almost like having another rookie with how little he was utilized last year. At only 20 years old, I really do believe he has the potential to be our Steve Francis.... super-athletic alpha with the ability to go unconscious from anywhere on the floor.

He’ll be ready for training camp and a fractured thumb isn’t nearly as bad as an ankle or leg problem. Just a shame he can’t continue summer league, especially after his promising debut.

Staying healthy was supposed to be key to Monk’s improvement going into this upcoming season.

yeah i agree. he'll be able to stay in shape, it's just really annoying he'll have to go two months in the middle of a critical offseason without contact drills or anything that requires a ball touching his right hand. personally couldn't give two **** about the rest of the SL, I've seen what I need to see from him. it's all about development for him.

WORSE than the Gordon Hayward injury
WORSE than the Paul Goerge injury
