I like Moreland, but unlike Calderon over Buckys, this makes a lot of sense, and Pistons got the best name in basketball.

Zaza is one of the few players I genuinely dislike. Dirty player who the league would be better off without tbh.

I get it from a basketball perspective. He’s better than Moreland. Having Moreland out there when Drummond was on the bench hurt us last year.
But I personally really dislike Zaza for reasons Bigshot stated.

What I can’t understand is that we are making these vet signings as if we were gearing up for a title run. Is our front office seriously that delusional? I know they said they think we can make a run, but they can’t truly believe that

Would rather have Moreland and Buycks over Calderon and Zaza

Pros: he's better than Moreland (and same cap hit*), experienced vet, get to hear Blaha and Mason say his name
Cons: have to root for Zaza

I absolutely respect zaza’s ability to set screens and veteran experience but that’s pretty much it. Hate that I have to cheer for him now.
He’s also our best chance at getting an all star starter too, fml.

Can’t fault The Pistons for these signings. We didn’t do anything stupid, we haven’t mortgaged our future.

I wonder if it would be a good time to explore selling high on Reggie Bullock. We have Kennard and the 2 rooks as depth at the 2 guard spot. Maybe we could package him with one of Leuer/Galloway/SJ for an upgrade somewhere?

I like the Zaza signing. We need to build a culture that this team isn't soft. Players like Kennard, Daye, Ellenson, Galloway, Leuer and Ish represent softness. Just like SVG!
Lets hope we don't go into next season with Kennard and Johnson starting!

Re: Pistons Sign Zaza Pachulia, 1 yr $2.4mil
Another thing with Calderon and now Zaza - potential to possibly trade them come the trade deadline for a SRP.
Why this isn't exactly like Calderon/Buycks - Moreland had another year after this one not guaranteed, but really cheap again. We gave up two years of cheap Moreland for one year of Zaza.
Is Zaza the best we could get with this vets minimum gimmick? I wonder what other players will sign for vets minimum later on. I guess the deadline for a guarantee to Moreland was today though, so we sent out offers and Zaza was the one to accept it.
Dre was working out with Monroe yesterday or the day before - I wonder if Monroe gets much more than vets minimum given he's an old school low post guy with no real athleticism.
