I think so- easily!
He is much more agile and athletic than Bama. Bamaba is taller and has a longer reach. I'll take the agility over a few more inches in height abd reach.

He was a better defender than Bamba in high school; I had him rated over Bamba pre-draft because he has better defensive nous than Mo. Not sure about the offensive side of the ball, both seem to me to be similar sort of players there.

Mitch is alot more agile, and athletic than banana. Also Mitch has better hands thab bamba. I can see Mitch beiung able to put it on the floor. I dont think bamba will do that.

Did a little bit of everything you'd expect out there last night. People weren't kidding on the timing on his blocks. He looked comfortable enough given he hadn't played organized basketball in a year.

Also watched an interview scrum with him at practice and he already looks a *little* more comfortable with the media. Sky's the limit for this kid. I'm excited.

i was hoping mitch would make me forget bamba and it looks like he might. he might be a little quicker, more fluid than bamba. he don't move like a guy that tall. bamba still has a little of that tall guy awkwardness that kp has.

He looked rusty... for about three minutes. Then he looked amazing. I'm seriously pumped for both rooks tbh.

But he won't be DeAndre. This kid has a jumper he has yet to deploy. Lawwwwwwd!

I expect to see fast growth for him. Cause he has a role.

I wish I could have clips of the chippiness with him and Collins. Collins is a bully, built strong, and Mitch stood toe to toe with him with no fear. He can handle the physicality of the NBA even now imo, and will only get stronger.

He should be the starter I dont care what growing pains he will have. Throw him in the fire. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain especially with KP out.

Annoucers were gushing about how he has not played in a year. Even before that bad stretch, he made some good plays. He shook off those three mins pretty fast.

Dude - the scouting reports that questioned his IQ/awareness/drive can **** right off. People REALLY read too much into the redshirt year. He had beef with a corrupt system and ditched it. Nothing more, nothing left.

For a his first few seasons probably, but I believe he has the raw tools to be a more complete version of Capela. Although Capela still fairly young himself so who know where he will end up.

And there you have it folks! This kind of defensive presence after missing a year of competitive basketball. Think about where he'll be in six months with professional coaching. Hell, we've been so awful for so long that I'd be content with this version of Mitchell as a finished product, but seriously, any improvement over the next 2 years after that debut and think about what we have.
