Just came to say congrats on Giles looking athletic again. A healthy Harry Giles would probably go Top 3 in this past draft. You guys got a steal.

I thought the previous years of coaching at summer league were bad, but wow, this is a new low. lol. I hope the FO is watching this mess.

You can say that for WCS, Skal etc. but Bagley is playing just like this. He is getting balls under the basket and then create for himself. I hope I'm wrong but Bagley over Doncic is so bad pick, I'm speechless. But again, I watched every minute of Doncic while I watched around 10 full games of Bagley.

They're different and how they are used will depend heavily on how they perform. So goes the reality of a draft that you don't land a sure fire superstar. I want to see more of his use as a finisher where he gets some easy looks before the give him a 4 foot box to play in and 3-6 seconds to get it done.

This is another year where I would have to see what they are doing in practice because it's another year where the rookie seems to come in exhausted. SL is obviously more physical and they let play occur that would equal free throws all day, but I am almost certain now that they are running him ragged prior to the games. We saw this last year with Buddy. A terrible summer league where they put him in terrible positions to be him. I don't think it helped and it caused him a very slow start to the year. However, he did eventually overcome and had a strong finish in his development but I think his usage in SL set him back. Hopefully that doesn't happen to Bagley.

Happened to be in Vegas so I caught Saturday's game in person. Whenever Frank went out of the game our offense went to total dog ****. He was pretty much the only guy capable of creating anything. Bagley didn't look terrible other than his jumper. Giles looked better than him. What scares me long-term is that they look like the same player more or less. Bagley is a bit faster. Giles has a better looking jumper. Both are terrible passers that can't really dribble much. Bagley crashes the glass really well. Worst case scenario he should end up being a more coordinated Tristan Thompson with a passable mid-range jumper.

Ultimately, this is the problem with bigs, especially ones that are not physically dominating with power and body size. What are they really going to end up doing in today's league? It's a role player position. The only facet of the game any big dominates in today is on defense and even then guys like Gobert and Adams become liabilities. Which is why I'm virtually 100% of the time against drafting a big in the lottery.


As for players being tired, well... its Vegas No doubt these guys are all partying in between games.

As long as Giles stays healthy and improving, the kid is made for big things in the near future. He has a chip on his shoulder and the talent to back it up.

I find it funny, odd, disappointing, infuriating, whatever that when Bagley goes out is when they decide to run pick and roll. Until the last quarter that is. Is there some sort of tanking that goes on in summer league? Is there a draft pick of some kind on the line in the G-league draft or something because that finish was nothing short of spectacular if there is.

He's looked solid. What it comes down to he's just making his shots and playing with more confidence partially probably because he's making his shots. Defense was still questionable but his performance was a welcoming sight, but still struggles to find his teammates. Him and Giles are the two bright spots.

I think his defense and BBIQ are fine. He plays hard, has good enough length/athleticism for his position and I don’t see him having tunnel vision that much

For some reason, not as exciting as Harry Giles, even though he's playing better. We definitely shouldn't sign Rodney Hood over JJ.

Justin again doing his thing. Defensively he can be more aware and strong as I focus, but nothing that I don’t think he can overcome. But it doesn’t take away that I think he has the length/BBIQ/athleticism to get to a solid base defensively IMO and he’s entering his 2nd season. His offensive game is coming around. He’s a solid IQ kid.

Basically he has the tools to be solid and is making his steps to doing that. The franchise isn’t in position to throw doubt at the young players who are making strides. Not even going to argue with the naysayers over the coming months but I’ll refute you if I see you out of this forum on the issue

Frank definitely had good assist numbers today but still to me i think we desperately need a veteran pass-first backup PG (lawson? frazier?). It's fine to be a team with scoring bigs but it only works if you have point guards who know how to get them involved. The jury's still out on whether Fox can develop as a playmaker so we surely need a backup PG whose main role is to get the bigs and the shooters easy looks. For a guy who's not a great shooter or finisher frank seems to look for his own far too often.

Justin played well and is interesting. Someone on twitter raised a question: if Jackson were a rookie picked in the 1st round this year and lighting up summer league, would we still think we needed to add a veteran SF to start in front of him? Obviously a long regular season is a bigger sample size than a summer league but hopefully he has turned a corner.

i for one would love for more plays to be run for JJ during the season just to get his confidence going. Think of how much more explosive this offense would be if JJ developed into a good shooting wing. Having at times 3 shooters in Bogi, Buddy and JJ on the court together would make things a LOT easier for the bigs. He doesn't have an alpha/take over the game personality so i could see him easily revolting back to the JJ of old once he isn't the focus of the offense.

Giles looked good but i think we need to pump the breaks on the talk of him being a draymond-type defender. As good as he looked on D the first few games he's been beaten a lot these last 2 games. May be due to fatigue as he has looked winded recently. Still it will be interesting once he has to D up some of the physical, scoring bigs in the league like Embiid/Deandre/Anthony Davis.

That’s not to say JJ is a solid player yet. He obviously needs to affect the stat sheet across the line and be a hell of a lot more consistent. I think he’s on a correct path and being the good kid he is, work ethic wise, I think he can round into it

Giles needs to be in the rotation from day 1. If we throw out some garbage like WCS/Skal/Koufos/Randolph with Bagley playing 15mpg and Giles in the Gleague because the young guys need to learn, im **** boycotting.

Koufos/Randolph need to be DNP all year unless injuries
