The criticisms of him definitely proving accurate early.

He had decent numbers against Phoenix. Now, he has a hip pointer.

My favorite player from this draft. Wendell had a very impressive debut last night.

Best two-way player from this draft class:

If you check my old post, you will see I had Wendell ranked #3 behind Ayton and Luka, and I called him a poor man's DeMarcus Cousins. :D

I also said this a year ago about Wendell. Weight and muscle mass will be the biggest thing for him, if he can get to 290lbs and gets some guns like Charles Oakley or Karl Malone, Carter can turn out to be a fringe top 10 player in the NBA 3-4 years down the line. That is why i had him ranked #2 at one point in the draft.

I do recall!!!

Wendell has looked like a defensive monster early on. Avg 4+ block per game thus far this SL. His offense is fairly consistent also. I really wish we could have traded down and snagged him...I have him on par with Bamba/JJJ due to his comparable defensive skills and his superior offensive game.

But....it's still only Summer League. So take it all with a grain of salt.

Has Wendell’s mama been watching? Or waiting for regular season LaVar entrance?

I think this kind of thing is going to be a recurring issue for both M Bagley and T Young. Their frames are so slight, that every bump, bruise could linger over the course of a full season.

They likely struggle with injuries the first few years of their career until they perfect their conditioning program and just grow into their bodies.

She is too focused on hating Duke right now. Just wait until the regular season when she is complaining about Lavine getting more shots then her baby.

I THINK it's a natural fit in a frontcourt next to a shooter like Markkanen. They have a good coach with a collegiate background to help further develop all that youth. Carter will be a very good addition to that locker room.

Wendell and K Dunn are top end defenders on that squad. NO one else though seems interested in defending very much

I think he'll be beloved there, the same way that town loved Joakim for the first half of his career.

Only NY would have been a better fit among lottery teams for W Carter Jr.

Ayton vs Bamba in summer league. Bamba looked lost the whole game, and Ayton looked like prime Amare with all of the ally oops.

I just saw this. It's noteworthy that coaches/execs advised Wendell to go the opposite direction. Leaning out, dropping down to 250 so that he can better guard on the perimeter.

And he looks great, very quick with solid foot speed to defend on switches. His ability to block guards from behind is going to be huge.

I think he ends up a top 5 player from this draft

I don't like it when people say that Wendell will be the next Horford, because Wendell is alot bigger than Horford.

Horford as an NBA player is only 240lbs, Carter as a high schooler was already 265lbs.

Horford had no back to the basket game and was pathetic in posting guys up. Wendell on the other hand has a post up game and can bully guys and back guys down in the paint. That is why he is way more like Cousins than Horford for me.

Cousins and Carter can shoot and both have enough size and weight to back guys down all the way to under the basket.

If Carter can get from 265 to 290lbs, watch out, he will be dangerous.

Without Waffle House, Okogie is adjusting to life in the NBA

There isn’t a single Waffle House in the state of Minnesota.

Sorry, Josh Okogie.

Aside from a drive of 420 miles from Minneapolis to the nearest Waffle House in Missouri, Okogie will have to wait until a return to Atlanta for a trip to the restaurant. He has other things on his mind at the moment.

Okogie is just beginning his NBA career. The shooting guard has turned in two solid performances in his opening games of the tournament made up of team rosters consisting mostly of rookies and first-year players.

Okogie combined for 26 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block in 63 minutes for the Timberwolves entry in two starts.

As for that big off-court adjustment, Okogie recently posted on social media a map of Minnesota showing not a single Waffle House with the message: “Definitely took it for granted @wafflehouse.” It prompted a response from the restaurant chain.

There will be one trip to Atlanta for a game against the Hawks as a rookie next season. The Waffle House lights will be on.

This kid looked amazing. Clearly utilized his time off wisely.

I wonder if more kids would consider a gap year between college and NBA eligibility:

I wanted him with the 19 or 30th pick. A bit worried about his off the court but the talent is clearly there and beyond that is the freakish measurements and wingspan. Might be a good one.

I won’t lie it looks like a combination of Macs boy and Jamaals boys would have worked nicely in the ATL if early signs are an indication. (Trae+Wendy)

However, we haven’t seen my boy, (Doncic) if you wanna call him that I hope he doesn’t live up now lol..and kg’s boy (Porter jr.) play yet.

I think this was a 84,96,03 type draft we just had!
