Means nothing. He could be ready sooner than people think, he could sit out the season. Only when he's been recovering for 8-9 months will there be an idea about his return.

This is the only information that matters:

Porzingis’ surgeon, Dr. David Altchek, said in Porzingis’ documentary that his ACL tear type has “the best prognosis” for healing because there was no cartilage or ligament damage.
There is no point in him playing less than half the season. We should tank. Next years draft is filled with quality swingmen.

It's not about the draft next year. For you and many here, sure but based on what Mills/Perry/Fizdale are talking, it seems more about attracting a big free agent.
Only way to do that is by letting them see at least 10-20 games of Kristaps. Something encouraging.

I agree with this. Seems impossible to expect a star to sign here if they see 0 KP next season

Knicks center Joakim Noah 'for sure' wants to stay in New York

Joakim Noah is spending his exile from the Knicks barefoot in Malibu, but the big-money center still seems hopeful of re-joining his hometown team before the start of next season.

TMZ Sports found Noah walking without shoes or socks in a parking lot in the California beach town and asked him if he wants to stay in New York.

“For sure,” Noah responded.

Of course, Noah will only return to the Knicks if the front office allows it, and that appears to be an unlikely scenario at this point.

Over the weekend at Summer League in Las Vegas, new Knicks coach David Fizdale said the team is considering adding a veteran to the roster to help nurture the young nucleus GM Scott Perry and team president Steve Mills have built over the past year. But Fizdale cautioned against settling on an older player with unrealistic expectations — which could have been a slight of Noah, who was banished from the Knicks in January last season after a heated practice confrontation with former coach Jeff Hornacek.

“We’ve talked about it. There’s still a possibility, there’s still time to do some things and plug some gaps with some quality leadership and veteran leadership,” Fizdale said. “But at the same time you got to be right with that. You can’t bring in a guy who is looking for more than we can give. Because that could end up tearing your locker room apart.”

Noah, for what it’s worth, approves of Fizdale.

“I don’t what’s going to happen,” Noah told TMZ Sports. “But Coach Fiz is cool, man.”

Noah signed a four-year, $72.6 million deal with the Knicks before the 2016-17 season — the work of the now-fired Phil Jackson.

He’s due to make more than $18.5 million this coming year.

It remains one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

“I love New York,” Noah said.

Seems reasonable. I’m still hoping, however, that we can shed a couple of those guys (i.e. C. Lee) before the season starts.

They will probably switch anyway but I hope Knox is defending 4s and playing the 3 on offense.

Burke can't set a game's defensive tone the way Frank could from the start, and for that Frank should start, especially with the lack of impact Henzonja and Kanter have on defense.

I didn't build the team but those are the best players at those positions we have right now so if they go with the best then that will be the starters.

i disagree...you put the 5 best scorers on the court. But thats not the best players or what we are building here.

Start Frank, give him as much developmental minutes as possible and allow him to play through mistakes. Only take him out the game when he passes up shots or he's not being aggressive, drill it into his mind that it's ok to be selfish at times.

Those 5 best scorers are also the 5 best players we have right now and why did they sign Henzonja if that's not the type of player they want? Next year is about playing everyone and seeing who can stick for the following season and be a part of our future anyway. If Frank can keep playing the way he did last night then i'd love to see him starting for us and using Timmy as our 6th man but him being consistently good is on the to be continued plan.

best scorers don't equal best players...since 50% of the game is played on the other end of the floor.

there is only one basketball and for the sake of argument lets entertain the idea that those 5 players were the best players on the team...wouldn't you want to stagger the scoring so that everyone fit together and meshed together?

Having 5 guys who need the ball to be successful makes little to no sense. You really want Knox to be froze out in the starting lineup by Burke and Timmy chucking away?

that team would give up an average of 120 pts a game...

I still think Mudiay and THJ will be the starting backcourt on opening night. Hope I'm wrong though
