Clips Still Have the Right of First Refusal
TheNewEra wrote:We just signed Luc WTF happen go Harrell?
We still have the right to match a signed offer sheet on Harrell since he's a restricted free agent, but I am concerned since we're already over the roster limit even when you factor in that we'll either trade or buy out Teodosic. It would make sense for a trade to happen but there's been no word of that leaking.

Doesn't sound like a team looking to tank.

Montrezl will play center taking most of the minutes DJ left. Luc will play the four behind probably Tobias. For moments we could go big with Luc at the four and Tobias at the threeTheNewEra wrote:Ranma wrote:TheNewEra wrote:We just signed Luc WTF happen go Harrell?

Do you guys see yourselves keeping Bradley, Beverly, and Teodesic, or do you think you are planning to cut or trade one of them

Our FO is probably going to be listening to offers for everyone on the roster come January-February.
We have to dump a few players since have too many players on the roster right now, but Beverly or Bradley won't be one of them.
Teodosic is contract is only partially guaranteed until July 15. So he may get cut this week. we'll see.

think teo's getting cut. i'm guessing you are looking precisely at him because he has ties with your new coach, so i would hope he goes over to a situation where he'll get great PT.
bradley/bev are almost certainly staying up until the deadline given we just signed mbah a moute. looks like the team just wants to trot out hardcore defensive lineups as often as possible and those two will be key cogs.

Re: Transaction Discussion Part 3 (Trades, Free-Agency, News, Rumors & Ideas)
Honestly the FO is making some really interesting moves. A lot of articles rightly say the moves are very confusing because they're setting up to compete for playoffs, but don't have a credible shot without a bonafide superstar like Kawhi and will just lose their protected pick. People are suggesting they should just tank. I have a feeling they're about to trade away both our draft picks as well as either Tobias for picks or our draft picks + Tobias for Kawhi or maybe even Butler (might have a smaller asking price). One article mentioned the possibility of a second round pick + Boban and Tobias (obviously they have to go together..) for Ibaka + a 1st round pick. Teams like Toronto, Boston, and Sixers and even Wizards can go to the Eastern Conference finals if they GM right. Toronto might want a volume scorer in Tobias to make Derozan mentally more secure knowing another scorer can lift some of the burden for him. Ibaka's contract is a little pricey and guaranteed for the next year. However, if we give up Tobias and some of our youth we could potentially roll out a line up of:
Patrick Beverly/ Milos
Avery Bradley/ Lou
Kawhi or Jimmy Butler / Wesley Johnson
Luc Mbah Moute / Mike Scott (Regional Manager at Dunder Mifflin)
Ibaka (if Tobias goes to Raptors as mentioned above or maybe sign Alex Len/Cole Aldrich on vet min, Doc does wonders with centers) /Trezz
That would automatically put us not only in playoff contention, but give us a defensive lineup that would strike fear into all the Laker fans who are a little too hyped over players like Lance Stephenson and Javale. Even though I'm a huge Lance Stephenson fan... I can't deny that we have more quality role players, but we're missing a superstar two way player to really take us farther. It might screw us in the long term in terms of building through the draft, but acquiring a player like Kawhi's bird rights via trade helps us to basically make some intelligent free agent decisions next summer. It might even be why we paid a guy like Luc 4-5 mil this year, with the promise that we'd pay him well this year but next year he would get a reduced salary (same with Avery bradley). Happened to Reddick on the sixers and KCP last year and this year. Warriors aren't as big and bad as everyone thinks. They can be stopped. Lebron is here to watch his kid, not win titles. Lonzo is here for Lavar. This is just one option that sacrifices Youth.
Option 2: as the season goes on, trade guys like Avery and Patrick to teams in the East who need them like Toronto for picks. You just need defensive guards if you're gonna win a chip in today's Warriors dominated NBA. They can have high value if traded correctly. Thus you can simply accumulate a war chest of assets like Boston and have the Logo himself pick. I'd be comfortable building with his input for sure. The risk depreciates significantly and you're more likely to build right. Shai and Jerome have such high ball IQ, even Sindarius has got defensive chops and the ability to score. Clippers are actually poised to make some noise in two really great ways right now.
Articles that say we're running like chickens with our heads cut off have no idea. The GMing right now is on point. Definitely not as funny as GM Doc's move though... (Trading away assets, Baby Boy, Glen Big Baby Convict, Nate Robinson the Commentator, Jeff Green trade for Lance (I am forever opposed to that one..)).

Re: Transaction Discussion Part 3 (Trades, Free-Agency, News, Rumors & Ideas)
At this point I'd just stay put at where we are. Lou was an all-star and while he might not be that he can still be great. Tobias can still improve and was already great last season. Shai is looking amazing in summer league. Yes, it's the summer league. You shouldn't just look at that to say if a guy is a bust or not. We are getting Bev and Bradley back and with Luc joining us again our defense will be crazy

Re: Transaction Discussion Part 3 (Trades, Free-Agency, News, Rumors & Ideas)
You know I'm totally cool with that as well. Honestly Shai is really good. Same with Jerome, all his shots are contested heavily and he still makes it at such a high accuracy. That being said, he has a pass first mentality too which is kind of funny. He might also be playing lightly because it's summer league. A lot of professionals don't wanna go too hard in the Summer League because a lot of injuries can occur. Guys are trying to prove themselves etc. The game looks like it's slowed down a lot for Shai. He's a high IQ player for sure. SO I'd be happy developing and whatnot too, I think it would lead us to get our lottery pick back and a hell of a lot of cap space next summer.

My thought was they get out of the 4 year 50mil deal they signed TJ warren since they now have Josh Jackson, Mikal Bridges and Ariza at the 3

Dont see why the Suns give up Warren, who actually is a solid trade chip and player, for a package of nothing.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I would not give Evans or a 2nd for Vucevic. That would be a classic “let’s shoot for mediocrity” move and lose assets (that we’re low on in the first place) while we’re at it.

I agree. He didn't look good, but we should be collecting draft/young assets instead of giving them away. Vucevic doesn't do anything for us. He might bump us up from 11th to 10th in the West. We have to face it, we would have absolutely everything go right to sneak into the 8th seed this year. The West is stacked.
Warriors
Rockets
Lakers
Thunder
Nuggets
Jazz
Spurs
Blazers
Wolves
Pelicans
then we can debate if the Mavs/Grizzlies/Suns or us are the 11th best.

Vucevic is 27 and averaged 16 & 9 last season. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think trading for him would give us his bird rights to go over the cap to resign him next season when we have the possibility of 2 max contracts? It's all about showing this season we're one or two pieces away.
