2018 Super-Early Hindsight Pick #11

Post#1 » by fatlever » Mon Jul 9, 2018 10:10 pm

Has anything you've seen so far at Summer League changed your opinion on who we should have drafted (or any news, such as Porter possibly sitting all year)?

I asked this same question last summer after seeing Mitchell play a couple of summer league games.

I haven't seen enough to say anything definitive, but I still slightly favor SGA over Bridges. I would have been cool with Zhaire, too.

Miles and Graham for me, although I like Knox and I would try to trade up but probably wouldn't be able to... I apologize for not wanting him pre-draft, he is gonna be a beast

SGA still looks blah to me. Graham just looks the part of a PG and is quicker with his passes, but SGA's shot is better. Walker looks like he is gonna take a lot of bad shots, but he has talent. Zhaire looks good, he would be my backup choice to Miles

My opinion hasn't really changed yet, I'm not totally sold on SGA after a few decent performances but he'd be my first re-pick choice at the moment If I couldn't pick Miles again. Still happy with Miles until regular season proves otherwise.

The one guy I do regret not wanting is Knox. Dude looks really good, even with the overbearing hype every half-decent Knicks rookie receives. He's probably a lot better than I thought.

I'd really like to see Porter's prognosis. I have a worrying feeling he will actually recover and be really good and we'll look short-sighted, but so many squads also passed (Clips passed twice! And their owner loved him, even went to some of his HS games!) that the results of his medical exam must have been really awful.

Why would we need SGA when we have Graham? That would have been a wasted pick and would have meant we don't feel confident about keeping Kemba. Miles Bridges 100%. Monk proving he was the right pick as well. He's just getting started.

I started out really low on Knox but he kept rising on my board all the way up until right before the draft. Admittedly, it had more to do with me lowering my opinion on guys above him rather than being that sold on him, but he still managed to make it up to 10th on my last update. I think I had him as low as 22 at one point and posted multiple times about how I had no interest in him.

Knox has looked way better than I thought, so props to him.

I haven’t seen Z. smith enough.

Still like Miles or SGA.

The only thing that’s concerning me with Miles misses is they seem to be all over the rim. He looked a little more aggressive late yesterday and the shot looked better. Hopefully it’s just nerves.

If we are only basing it off of summerleague, then it cannot be denied that SGA has looked way better the Miles

I was between SGA and Knox, with Knox on top. When he went early I would have taken Mikal if available but wanted SGA for his potential as an impact player (so young to come that far in one season )and nice measurables. Was tempted by Porter but so many teams passing made him radioactive.

Bridges is a tweener with explosive hops, but his shot must get more reliable. Also he is not a 4...not enough length or strength.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Yeah I liked the other Bridges a lot. Didn’t think he’d be around for us. We were one pick away.

I was pretty clear about wanting SGA.

I still feel that way, mancrush on DG notwithstanding

The 2 players I had us selecting were zhiarre, and Yuta. I woulda took spalding too since he was left on the board.
I would have been more than happy with those selections.

Players that have impressed me since the draft that I would draft - D'anthony Melton, YuTa, Zhairre, Carr, Hutchinson
and Vince Edwards who finally played well his last game

Although I like the players we drafted I would not have drafted any of them. I think our best hope is in kulboka.

Player that I was wrong about that I would love to draft is D'anthony Melton. That kid is good and I rated him very low.

Oh to answer the question with "1 pick" of who I would take at 11 I would probably take YuTa with 11. In his first game I didn't see much but his last two games he has shown me that he could be a good player. I definitely think hes a top 15 player in this draft

SGA all day and it’ll haunt us when SGA is contending for the all-star team in 3 years while we’ll be declining to exercise Miles’ option.

I havent watched a lot of summer league this year but from what I've seen Miles looks pretty solid. I think Knox should probably be in the poll.

The Hornets need solid wing play in the worst way though so i think he was a good pick. He's a nice guy to have to help you move on from MKG/Frank Kaminsky/Marv trio.

Knox wasn't an option for us at 11.
