If i were you guys i would want NO part of Melo he is a SHELL of his former self and to be honest i think T-Mac could play better then him if he came out of retirement. As you can see i am a Blazer fan but also an NBA fan and i think he would torpedo the Rockets chances of beating the Warriors. I will say the same thing to you as fans on the Blazers board -- Say HECK NO to MELO

Have a good day ya'll

With Trevor it felt like a "time to move on/last big payday" move.

This one is depressing. Maybe they are unsure about that shoulder.

I get the concern over his shoulder, but losing both of those guys is rough. I'll go ahead and assume Morey has a solid backup plan to replace what they bring defensively, and I don't mean Melo.

this is the 4th time we are trying to get Melo

Obviously Melo respects the fact that the rockets aren’t quitters.

It will all be OK when Daryl reveals that they transferred Hakeem's brain to an exact copy of his prime years with anti-injury technology installed.

Do they have a young wing on the roster?

Or are there even any left in free agency?

Treveon Graham, who they are interested in. I like House who's been on their SL roster last two years and on a two way with PHX last year but IDK if they like him that much.

They've also been interested in James Ennis and James Nunnally (3&D wing who's been in Europe, can shoot the hell out of the ball but not sure if defense will carry over) are also good potential pick ups though not exactly young

Exactly my thoughts.

I was okay with Trevor walking for the Phoenix payday. Loved him as a Rocket the second time around.
His defense and locker room presence were much needed.
However his inexplicable inability to put the ball on the floor got more painful to watch as time went on and only exacerbated his inconsistent scoring.
As you said, maybe it was just time to move on, especially at that price.

The loss of Mbah a Moute does sting a bit more since it's coupled with the loss of Ariza. Luc was BIG for the Rockets last season.
His apparent decision not to have surgery was concerning though. We all saw how affected he was after that second shoulder injury. He went from being a crucial part of the rotation to being virtually unplayable.
Maybe time will help restore his confidence but it had to be a question in the Rockets' minds.

Need that Jimmy Butler trade even more now. It makes so much sense for everyone, damnit.
Capela gets his money.
Butler gets to play for his hometown team and with two other stars.
Wolves get a young star in the making who allows KAT to face up more (42% three point shooter)
Rockets get a reliable secondary scorer and primary defender who plays the same position as Durant and LeBron.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

According to Stephen A. Smith, Melo and CP3 are best friends. So for Houston's sake they'd better hope CP3 can influence Melo to accept a role coming off the bench.

Or he can go to Miami where he will surely start and have the opportunity to shoot 20+ times per game. He won't compete for anything there, but when has competing for championships ever been a top priority for Melo.

For most ring-less players at this stage in their career this would be an easy decision; particularly if the money is the same. For Melo.....it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him head to South Beach.

I find it hard to believe that Pat Riley would want Melo to start for the Heat and jack up 20+ shots. I like where Morey is headed with Melo. He's best when brought off the bench.

Miami has as much shot of reaching the Finals as Houston currently does

Hunter is already signed to a two way deal, Edwards and Gary Clark have been singed as well (though Clark's is an exhibit ten contract that will become a two way deal as well). Melton hasn't been signed yet because they're trying to see if they'll have MLE room yet to give him three years

If Ennis is the starting SF, then the rockets are in trouble. Why 2 years also?

Looks like a solid 3 and D guy to me. Not enough to make up for losing both Luc and Ariza, but certainly capable of filling that role nicely.
