Is Sac the city of trees?
Yes it was for many years until recently when former Mayor Kevin Johnson changed it to The Farm to Fork capital.

Well maybe I was right after all about some team offering an absurd contract to smart. Maybe he will get 15 to 18 million dollars a year after all.

Good luck to the Kings though if they pay him that and make him a starter when it should be a 6th 7th or 8th man Off the Bench.

They don't have that much. I can see 12-15 though. We probably have to bow out at 15 I would imagine.

I can tell you this though, nobody is ever talking about Marcus Smart again if he is on the Kings. He fades away as a player

Smart just going for the money. Don’t blame him. It will be the biggest paycheck he will ever get

He's not blaming him. He's pointing out the stark reality that is the Kings. They make great players crumble to ash.

They don't have a pick next year so any extra wins are worth it for them. Might bump them from bottom five to bottom ten. They were 7th worst this year, with no incentive to lose next year might as well get all the wins you can.

How is 38% and tied for 61st out of 172 players knockdown?

You either in full agenda mode, trolling or just don't understand stats.

If you are calling him a knockdown 3-point shooter, you don't understand the term.

FWIW, out of 129 qualified players last year, dude was 127th in FG%, 113th in Adj FG%, 117th in points per shot.

It feels like Sac is starting to turn the corner, although I don't have confidence in Vlade. Just a feeling. Smart's not the mental midget that Cousins is, so I don't think he'll crumble. I think Smart's a good fit for them, even though I don't want to lose him.

There is also no opportunity cost on overpaying him for a year or two, before the rising cap normalizes the rest of the contract.

We’re talking about 3 point percentage. Not FG percentages. Do you have statistics that paint Smart as an elite defender? Or do we both know better by watching 95% of the games?

And nowhere near knockdown.

If Rozier isn’t a knockdown 3 point shooter, then Smart isn’t an elite defender. It’s a completely ridiculous arguement

You are comparing Rozier's shooting to Smart's defense? That is really your take here?

I gave you the 3-point shooting percentages, which clearly proved he is not an elite 3-point shooter.

Except they prove he is. Top 10 for his position and still improving is elite

Not at all. Just pointing out that your stance on this particular matter is a bit ridiculous. We both know of Smarts defense and what it brings to the team. If I were to pull out defensive statistics to try to make it seem like Smart was an average defender, you’d tear me to shreds and rightfully so

Damn, I’d hate to see him go but have no gripes on seeing him get paid. Such a big part of the Celtics identity but it’s a season too early to start the repeater tax season counter.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
We need Smart’s defense to guard Steph Curry alone. He played lockdown defense on Steph the only meeting the two played against each other last season. Barring injuries, a warriors-Celtics finals is a near lock. Kyrie or Rozier can’t guard him at all especially with all the picks involved.

Thing is, I don't need to parse and spin to make my points. Proven endlessly now, the dude is a just above average 3-point shooter who is well below average within the 3-point line. Not efficient, not consistent, not elite or "knockdown" (from 3 or anywhere else).

Further, in the original context of what a different team will pay him, he is doing it primarily spot-up and off the ball as a 4th or 5th option, usually off the bench. This is a very different thing than creating your own opportunities as a starter in a featured role.

He has no business being compared to Smart in terms of his ability to impact or win games in this league.

Ridiculous is calling an average 3-point shooter "knockdown".

Even more ridiculous given the fact that the dude is a 40% FG shooter overall.

A. Sherrod Blakely says Kings preparing Offer Sheet for Smart

Post#1180 » by Jammer » Tue Jul 10, 2018 2:53 am

About 2 hours ago A. Sherrod Blakely reported via Twitter
that the Kings were reportedly preparing an Offer Sheet for Marcus Smart.
I thought that Rodney Hood was next in line after Zach LaVine.
Maybe the Kings present offer sheets to both Smart and Hood.
Sacramento has around 19.4 Million to spend.
