Trade Royce Oneal for Skal Labissiere?

Post#1 » by Hoops Addict » Tue Jul 10, 2018 11:43 pm

Jazz fan , visiting in peace.

It was suggested on the trade board to trade Skal for Utah's Royce Oneal.

Another countered with Jae Crowder for Skal .

Your thoughts

p.s. Your team is improving......good luck.

I personally wouldn’t do either deal. The team will need post players after this season when Randolph and Koufos expire. Skal will likely be depended on to be reliable then. I like both O’Neale and Crowder, but neither will push us over the edge. O’Neale is a reliable 3&D role player, but I don’t see him as a high potential player at 25. Crowder doesn’t fit with our timeline and acts as a band aid more than anything. I’d rather look elsewhere or just keep Skal.

I think the front office likes WCS more than Skal. I've seen almost every game from both of them and truly i'm undecided on which one I would want to round out the bigs rotation long term. I'd lean more towards Skal because I think he can become a stretch big who can shoot 3-4 3's per game at reasonable numbers.

That said if Crowder was offered for Skal id have to think long and hard about that. Crowder isn't 30+ like most of the vets we've had around here and i've always admired his game. Bringing in Crowder/Smart would do wonders for this team defensively.

WCS/Giles/Bagley - 4/5

Smart/Fox/Bogdan/Buddy/Crowder - 1-3 would be pretty awesome to watch IMO.

I'd do a deal for Crowder because I see the front court cluster F just being compounded this season anyway.

The team is currently deficient in toughness. One of Smart or Crowder or both would help to remedy this. Add this to Giles and I see a lot of the young core (minus Labissiere) following suit.

The thunder could really use Skal. I just don’t know what we have to offer.

I don't Oneal swings the needle enough in the sg/sf department. Also, the Kings have more contract control over Skal with a team option and QO.

Crowder isn't what this team is looking for now. The team is still developing. Crowder is more a final piece player.
