Did LeBron trade for Jordan Clarkson in order to create cap space for himself +1 max on the Lakers?

With it being acknowledged that it was LeBron who wanted the Lakers' new FA's, it follows that he had that same kind of GM pull in CLE. We also now know that Nance was the sweetener in the Clarkson trade. The "Cavs" wanted Clarkson so much they were willing to throw in a 1st.

Was this thing planned out a lot longer than we think or am I just smoking some really, really good OG Kush right now? :meditate:

It was an ingenious move by lebron. He wanted to know if Clarkson was championship caliber.
Trading him to Cleveland was win-win for lebron because if they won, Clarkson was caliber. But if lose, well, lebron is now on Lakers with Clarkson removed.

I disagree with this.

Magic would have taken all the blame for moving Clarkson and Nance and not getting Lebron.

Magic made the deal. Of course Lebron was happy considering no one else was willing to push a deal even remotely as nig as that mid-season trade turned out. But who made the deal go down? Magic. Not Lebron. Magic.

If Magic did not get rid of Nance and Clarkson and Lebron and the Cavs wilted out of the playoffs without Lebron ib the finals then Dan Gilbert would have been blamed.

Magic made the deal go down. And trying to turn this into a Lebron conspiracy by suggesting Lebron actually had the power as a Cav to make Magic do something with no guarantee that Lebron wouldn't end up anywhere other than LA is pushing the limits to absurdity.

Lebron and the Cavs before the Nance and Clarkson trade were in the brink of collapse.

The Lakers even took Isaiah Thomas off the Cavs roster. Magic made it clear that he wanted James. He cleared out a lot of contracts to put LA. With or without Lebron it was a great move to clear the Laker books.

But Lebron ultimately had nothing to do with it. That is just ridiculous.

Right, but not just Clarkson removed, but his salary removed, and Nance's salary removed, and a 1st round pick coming back.

That was only 5 months ago. LeBron had no idea 5 months ago where he wanted to spend the rest of his NBA career? Really?

Jeanie met with Maverick Carter last year a bunch of times just to help him write Yelp reviews about the restaurants where they met?

Clarkson lost his confidence. He was actually tearing it up and people were wondering if the Cavs got a steal with Clarkson and Nance for about a month

Yeah, in spite of his aggressiveness, it seemed he was thinking too much.

He's first game against Boston should've been the indicator and barometer, but for some reason everything just went downhill.
