Something I see a lot of people not talking about is Mitchell's strength. He's looks rail thin, but he's far from a weakling at 223. I don't see him getting pushed around out there on the blocks. He holds his ground and gets to where he needs to go. If only KP had those genes.

There was also a sequence in the 3rd quarter I think, where he defended the pick and roll perfectly. He switched onto the guard but it wasn't the typical "show"....he actually stalled the ballhandler hard, then recovered back to his roll man in textbook fashion. You cannot teach that. Kid hasn't had quality coaching yet and just knows. For instance Amar'e and Kanter still haven't learned that.

That's the best part about it, he moves around the court so fluidly and he's capable of staying in front of quicker players. Now there were times where he did get lost on some pick and rolls and it looked like miscommunication errors but that's expected for a young kid. He's gonna learn and get better but those natural gifts and abilities and instincts are things you can't really teach.

Mitch looks more like Whiteside to me. Which in the 2nd round is a steal

More passive than he's been but the game was messy with Trier running the point. Wasn't a pretty game all around. He drove into traffic/bodies quite a bit and didn't get calls.

Yeah - watching the team the other day without Frank (and with Trier) was tough. Frank organizes things out there very well.

They made it a point to shut him down. Looks like they schemed for him. They put their best defender on him and also threw additional bodies and looks at him as well. To top it off, Hicks and our other bigs were refusing to come set picks for him when he called for them. It was strange. Didn't change until the 4th when the coach Mike Miller finally made an adjustment and ordered Robinson to start setting high picks and they ran the 2-man game like 3 possessions in a row. One resulted in a Robinson ally-oop dunk thrown by Knox. But Knox missed an open Robinson twice as well and settled for the jumper.

Knox did look tired tho. Most of his shots were short.

3-4 from the line today.

I mean, I get what your saying and I'm not down on Knox but uh, when we start looking at FT shooting as a reason not to get down on a player you know he had a subpar game. It happens.

Nah. What I am saying is when you got a big long forward who can get to the cup on off nights and hit at a high percentage that can get you through some rough shooting nights where you can still be offering some point production.

I'm as excited about Knox as I was the past 3 games.
No reason to harp on the negatives now.
He showed us his versatility throughout these games and sure his efficiency isn't where you'd like, but word....this is just the beginning.
Can't wait to see him around actually NBA talent that will put him in better positions, along with Fiz in his ear coaching him.

Very pleased with Knox & Mitch.
Everyone else on the team can kick rocks.

Dear lord the future would be bright.

Would only be 27 going into the season too. With Kyrie repeatedly breaking down the defense, their offense would be incredibly potent: Kyrie, Knox, KP, and lobs for Mitch. Frank shot 32% from three last year. Get that up over 35%, and it's a wrap.

Defensively, Frank, KP, and Mitch: enough said. Knox should develop and would at least put in a ton of effort. Kyrie would just have to try and there would be fantastic balance between the two sides of the ball.

I'd rather it be that than straight up hating on the kid. Cuz that was my initial thought. If he tired he need to stf down and let someone else get those mins. Dude don't deserve that two-way anyway.

I think the most impressive part about Mitch to me is how quick he adjusted to the game

He improved every time he went out there, I remember thinking he was just a bundle of athleticism the first time he hit the court, but today he didn't look like he missed any time at all.

Knox was very good, great even. Today he was off shooting wise, and you could tell that his handle is still a work in progress, but he looks further along than I thought he'd be, making me look bad for wanting Mikal

Trier might have a spot in the league, he just seems really limited. He really embodies his nickname, when he's on, he puts the ball in the bucket, but he has real bad tunnel vision and is bad on defense

Dotson stunk it up all week. Nothing good to say about him, hopefully it's cause he's out of his role trying to play without guys setting him up

Troy I like. Good energy guy, always hustling, not the most skilled guy, but if his shot starts falling, he's a quality bench player for us

Frank had one game where he looked exactly the same as last year, and one game where he looked like an actual NBA player on offense. Can't really say much more than that, I fully expect him to struggle this year, don't think he breaks out until year 3 at the earliest

Everyone else was trash or didn't play enough

There was literally no semblance of an offense today. Infuriating. It was like the worst game of pickup ball possible
