Wonder if Hawks will buyout Lin? Would be a great player to offer the MLE to.

Not knowing the contracts of the players involved but that's a pretty good get for a salary dump. Darrell Arthur would of been a nice piece to get.

Great for the Nets, no clue what ATL is doing.

I still think that's too much money coming back. And I also don't think Miami is parting with Richardson like that.

What is Richardson’s value? He’s a really nice role player, but nothing more than that. He’s deal seems very fair but not a bargain contract like Covington was two years ago. Is a future 2022 protected FRP more valuable than Ferguson? Also, I think if OKC were to basically take TJ for Melo, we shouldn’t have to add as much for Richardson.

Good points as well. What if Melo prefers Houston though? Is a trade like that still happening? Or what if Riley thinks he could just sign him for the MLE or even the minimum?

I think Miami views TJ as a salary dump and the only way that happens is if melo is traded for and not signed for a mle or minimum. Miami has hurt themselves with so many role players. Part of that is Spo is a good coach so they never really tanked. I could see them doing a mini-rebuild in an effort to get some young talent, cap space and then try to sign a big name free agent in a year or two.

some deal around melo and feliciano is the only type of deal that really saves the thunder any more money than stretching melo would. other than that kind of deal, i don't think there's anything else out there. taking on a large 2019-20 salary like bazemore or tyler johnson does not seem like something they're considering.

Can’t give up Ferguson and take back Johnson’s 2 year $39 million. Makes no sense.

In Presti I trust!

If the Thunder can dump Melo they would be interested in bringing back 10-20 million back on the books based on who they get. These players can be on longer deals and don’t have to be expiring contracts.

A team like the Hawks could take on Melo then flip him for a Evan Turner or a Jokim Noah or a Deng. So taking on Melo is step one in a 2 step plan where you acquire assets or dump future money in both deals.

In this one the Thunder give up $32 million and take back 31 million.

Yeah, really looks like it's Melo for Felicio (for the most part). About the best they could really hope for. Going to call him "New Singler."

i was playing around with something. this trade works if chicago gets 20m in cap space:

adams and felicio to miami
anthony to chicago
whiteside and macgruder to okc

clear's melo's salary almost entirely. at the cost of an adams / whiteside swap.

sort of goofy, but there's a lot of things you can play around with this structure.

I really hate every scenario in which we lose Adams. Yes, I probably have a man crush for him.
