Re: Rumor: Jabari Parker to sign with Bulls
So Chicago isn't content with two bad/negative contracts (Lavine and Felicio), they want to add a 3rd.
Really foolish offseason from them already with matching that bloated contract for Lavine, so why not double down on the dumb moves?

Jesus they have a good thing going with Wendell, Lauri and Dunn and just have to go out and totally ruin it.
Lavine and Jabri are going to put that team back 3+ years. And Jabari is not a SF at this point w/ his ACL issues, he is a small ball 4 that needs to be sandwiched between long, athletic, defensive SF and C.
Bulls fans should be livid.

Whats this based on? Just that it's an injury that takes a long time to heal? It doesnt come with long-term effects historically, and certainly not in the present.

Parker and Levine is going to be horrendous defensively, If your goal is to be an #8 seed these are not bad moves, but in the playoffs you cannot play those two together. I don't like it, and if its going to be on a contract that Milwaukee won't match its an overpay. Maybe they both put up big numbers and one can be moved down the line, but don't love this for Chicago.

Re: Rumor: Jabari Parker to sign with Bulls
Depends on the contract and the goals, but it seems like the Bulls just locked themselves into a really mediocre core that could have been very good had they just waited a year or two to make a big move in free agency. I wouldn't hate this if it were a team like Phoenix that already had a core in place that had made these moves.

Both are young enough that if they are healthy they can be moved in a pinch. In the barren landscape of the East either good defense or good offense is good enough to not only get you into the playoffs but also sneak home court behind Boston/Philly and Toronto. Bulls don't have much to lose here.

No need to jump to conclusions. Maybe it's a 1 year contract. Solid signing if that's the case.

Re: Rumor: Jabari Parker to sign with Bulls
Two questions:
1) What contract size would the Bucks pass on matching?
2) Due to the hard cap, what is the most the Bucks could match?

We should probably wait and see what the contract is before calling it bad....

I think RFA offers have to be at least 2 non-option years.

If he hasn't been renounced by the Bucks, then Chicago has to go the offer sheet route which requires more than a one year contract.

Don't know what they would match, but the Bucks are about 8M below the luxury tax threshold. So every dollar Jabari's deal goes over 8M costs them $2.50. So for example a 15M deal would cost them 25M this year.

I'm assuming you're not taking into account the fact that Mirza will be off the books in November.

I see... This information makes me a little less optimistic for Bulls fans.
Perhaps it's for a number they're pretty sure the Bucks would match, tying up their space? That would be a rather shrewd play on Chicago's part.

Bulls have almost zero chance barring major injury of home court playoff series......Outside of GS and Hous, I think the rest of the west is a bit over blown, I don't think OKC would run away with the east if they were in it, in fact (homer alert) I think Boston is better then any western confrence team other then GS or Houston if Kyrie and GH are in decent shape. Philly, Indiana and Washington are all good teams, during the regular season Toronto is good too.

Yeah I believe that number is with his 3.5M cap hit.
Edit: I'm using Sport Tracs numbers, but it looks like they're including Jabari's huge cap hold in the taxable number, so maybe they're not as close to the luxury tax as it looks.

I think Utah is better than any non-Boston team in the East. 10/16 teams sorted by point differential were in the West last season and Cleveland secured a home court in first round with the 2nd worst defense in the league. Chicago will be completely fine if they are good on one end.

Thats a defensible thought, I think Philly would take Utah in a 7 game series, especially with the added year of experience to Simmons and Embiid. but it would be a really good series.....Philly, OKC, Utah, SA, Washington, Tor, LAL are all pretty close talent wise, they will all end up with pretty close to 48-53 wins. GS is a beast, and the west has more depth, but if you eliminate Bos, GS and Hou, the next 3 teams in each conference are pretty close
