Jimmy Butler has been working out with Demaryius Thomas all summer and he recently posted this on instagram. Butler liked the post and as recent as last week liked a comment that said to join Denver.

But if we can dream about some big FA name next summer, first on wish list should be some two-way star (like Jimmy Butler or Kawhi Leonard). We are offensively already TOP3, so option which would give our defense new dimension would be just perfect. And in such Kawhi/Butler case, I can't see any SF conflict with Porter, because from Durant and Giannis cases we know that such tall SF can be easily redirected to PF spot if the team needs it more.

If Denver was a perennial playoff team there may be a chance, but at this point it is not.
Trading him now and hoping for him to stay just like OKC did for PG may be a bet that Denver is willing to take.
I don't know what Minnesota could be interested in, though. Probably Porter Jr.

THE J0KER wrote:If we want seriously to talk about "Butler in Denver" scenario, he is probably the best FA star which we can get next summer (if he uses player option). We can only dream about Durant, Kawhi is going in one of two LA teams, and a new generation of upcoming superstars Giannis and Davis will most probably sign a supermax contract for their current teams. His price is 110M/4 according to Minnesota last offer, which will force us to gave-up from Millsap even if he wants to stay much under 30M price. In that case, Porter will be redirected to PF (share it with Lyles), which should not be a big problem for a 6-11 guy. And Barton will be redirected from SF to backups pg-sg-sf role, which he already played in 2017-18.
Everything except FA sign would be crazy because an eventual trade already this year for him would cost Denver too much, Harris or Porter.

Very ignorant thing to say IMO. Paul Millsap looked at the potential of this team and signed, so it is a free agent destination. Your suggesting because DEN is a not a perennial playoff team would easily eliminate the Lakers and Knicks too but I feel like they're both possibilities. Perhaps you could just look into that crystal ball and share what the lotto numbers are as well.
And I don't see the Nuggets giving up MPJ especially when it looks like Butler is either a bit of a team malcontent or just ready to leave MIN because they have underachieving young stars, which BTW is just opposite of the DEN young stars. And while I like Butler as a well-rounded player, not sure the Nuggets pursue him, he has shown to be disruptive on both teams he's been don't on and we really don't need a diva here. But that's just my opinion.

Millsap is not a superstar and he signed with Denver because no other decent team was giving him 30 millions per season.
Butler will have plenty of offers and it's very unlikely that he will choose to play for a non-playoff team when he can join LeBron in Los Angeles or go other good teams. This could change if Denver finishes top 4 in the west this season, but this is far from a sure thing.

I would take him for free, but I don't think I would give up much to get him, and I damn sure am not giving up any of the young core.
The Rebel wrote:So wait, the Lakers are a playoff team but the Nuggets aren't? Every analyst I have read has flat said that if Lebron was making a basketball decision in free agency he would have came to Denver. As far as Butler goes, we will not have the cap space to sign him but acting like the Nuggets are not an attractive destination with a great future just tells me that you do not know enough about the roster to even be making comments in here.
NuggetsWY wrote:"Non-playoff team"? Denver? They were missing Millsap for half the season and Harris missed a few weeks during the stretch and they almost made the playoffs. Nope, go back and study your material. Then we can have a conversation.

I'd give up Plumlee and Barton for him, but we might be giving up too much...
