8-)

If I were them I'd do it, 100%.

They're going to have to break it up anyway. That team can't win a championship. If you're going to break it up, why not for a superstar who you've got at least a shot of convincing to stay?

Kawhi is not staying in Toronto. No shot - all of the parties involved will know that Kawhi will leave the in the summer of 2019

I'd tend to agree, but we all thought the same about George. Maybe Toronto takes a swing and if they fail the team is blown up. I could sorta see it.

They have a rabid fan base and he would be right up there with Vince for best player in their history. I think his jersey and shoe sales would do excellent in Toronto. Factor in them being able to offer him 50 million more than anyone else next season and I think they would have a decent shot at keeping Kawhi if money is what matters most to him. It would be a great gamble for them as long as they don't give up picks in a Leonard deal.

Kawhi doesn't have a signature shoe

Pretty good win/win scenario for Toronto if they do that proposed trade for Kawhi

DD + OG + something + a pick I think it was?

If Kawhi bolts they get out of DD's contract and can rebuild... they got some really good young pieces on that team and if Kawhi stays then they win too.

That's the first viable trade package that's been seriously rumored. The Sixers' one was never going to be enough.

They thought they were going to get kawahi, Lebron without giving up embiid and simmonsand were going to hire morey as GM.

That franchise has a lot of New York Knicks in them. The Knicks think they are so important and that they are the Yankees of the nba.

Why are people so down on DeRozan? This is still a 24-28ppg scorer we are talking about here. If anything I want Kawhi with him and I'm shipping off Lowry who is complete ass water.

I assume OG and the first round picks for a player leaving in one year would be the rewards here..Lowry is in there just for salary. Plus I was a bit harsh..Lowry has his value..but his time in Toronto should be done.

Doesn't play defense, doesn't shoot the 3 well, has historically been a poor playmaker (he was better last season), average rebounder.

And who can ignore the fact that he crumbles like a souffle on a year to year basis as the playoffs approach?

Plenty of TV shows that have gone on for way too long but you just keep on watching. This is season 8 Married with Children. Only 3 more to go. ;)

Cris carter acts as if he's an insider that knows Kawhi's state of mind. Most of the time he looks senile..must be CTE related.

On the other hand Cris Carter has interests with the agency Kawhi's agent is part of. Something if ESPN was actually a reputable "news" organization he would be disclosing. He does seem to often be acting as a de facto mouth piece for them as they otherwise maintain radio silence. Course who says even Kawhi's agent knows what the hell Kawhi is actually thinking.

Because it matters less how many you score than elevating your team when you're on the floor. Raps have played like poop whenever DeRozan didn't share the court with Lowry in the series they have won. Lowry plays both ends. DDR is a gifted scorer but has rarely gotten his teammates going or defended at a high level.

Impact over raw stats, every single time. You want guys that can do both but those are MVP calibre players. Horford is underrated among most fans while Boogie is viewed as an elite big by some the same way.

Wouldn't call it a win/win situation for Toronto. If they move DD/OG/picks for a 1 year rental of Kawhi, sure they can rebuild, but that's not a win.

DD's contract isn't bad (as evidenced by him being the cornerstone for a Kawhi deal). OG was shockingly good last year. Assuming they give up future picks, that'll impact their rebuilding prospects to a decent extent. They'll be considerably worse off than they would have been had that not traded for Leonard.

Worth the risk? Yes. Win/win? Don't see how you can call it that.

Kawhi (with his question marks), Lowry and not much else won't get you to the Finals.

Toronto should just keep their picks, OG, and trade DeRozan and/or Lowry for more picks. Go full rebuild, develop their young. Either route, they won't be contending anytime soon.

I think they got a pretty good young base of guys, but they have some horrid contracts in DD Lowry and Ibaka.... they know they can’t get past us in the East this following season (with everyone healthy)

Think they are set for a rebuild, so if Kawhi doesn’t re-sign they can properly tank and not be a middling team.

That's all well and good, but you can't call it a "win" that Kawhi walks after a 1 year rental and you wasted assets to bring him in in the first place.

It's like PG in OKC. Definitely worth the risk to trade for him. Definitely a win now that he's staying, but had he left? There's no way OKC would consider that a "win". Just like there is no way trading for Kawhi and him bailing could be considered a "win" for the Raps.

I'd definitely take the gamble if I were them, but the reason that it's a gamble is because it's not win/win. There's huge upside if they can retain him and a decent amount of downside if you lose him (not trading DD elsewhere, losing OG, losing picks that you'd likely want to tank with).
