Don't talk to us about Loyalty

Post#1 » by Matty » Wed Jul 18, 2018 2:45 pm

We gave this core more time than most franchises would give them to get the job done. It's only fair we utilize their value while it's at it's peek. DeRozan was not willing/not able to change his game. He kept choking in the playoffs when it mattered. You don't get a ribbon for participation and for a franchise that is not in most players mind, you're not gonna convince anyone of superstar value to come here during free agency. Masai took a risk to get Kawhi and let him feel the city out for a year. That's the best you can ask for.

If we make the finals this upcoming season, even if Kawhi walks, the trade becomes a success.

You don't win in this league by handing out blank checks due to loyalty. This was a cold, Danny Ainge style move that improved our roster, it needed to be done.

Remember all the criticism Masai got for being "too personally attached" to Casey and the core?

He shook things up majorly and now he is a snake

Masai is a real one, he knows the Media is full of ****

He got us

Derozan (and Casey) had more than enough chances to prove to Masai they could get it done or at least be someone you continue to stick with. He didn't just mildly disappoint in the playoffs, he consistently looked like an awful player at worst and an ehh player at best. Are we supposed to keep giving him unlimited chances?

LOL. you guys should listen to espn. Already loyalty is a big narrative. I mean if there was a time to see why loyalty between some players and their organization matters in more ways than your stubborn a**es is willing to admit, it's now. Listen to what they saying now...

Did they forget how much they killed the Raptors after getting swept in the playoffs? You can't have it both ways. They joke about the Raps being a pretender every single year, where's the logic?

Don't hate on Derozan. He wanted to be here. He is entitled to feel let down. He may flourish with Pop and this will all be for the best for him.

This is professional sports. Loyalty doesn't exist in this world (on both sides).

+100

The only bit that sucks is that DeMar was the first All-Star to ever truly commit 100%. Chose us over the Lakers to boot.
Lowry has only stayed due to $$. Every other star has left

On a positive - I am looking forward to watching DeMar continue to grow in SA. I think he will be happy there and Pop will know how to take his game to the next level.

One question. Is this a better playoff suited team now or before the last playoff series?

Lowry was supposed to be a Knick.

and fans here were getting antsy for a move anyways. LOL so if anything blame yourselves for this trade if you hated it BUT you wanted Masai to make a move.

Its been five seasons in the playoffs with Lowry & DeRozan as the core;
We finished 3rd, 4th, 2nd, 3rd*, and 1st and in the playoffs lost in the first round, swept in the first round, made the ECF (Yay), swept in the second round, swept in the second.

Essentially we met expectations once and failed to meet them four times in five seasons.
We completely collapsed in upon ourselves when it mattered, and even in the ECF season we were taken to game seven in the preceding rounds by lesser teams.

Yeah, it sucks that he was traded from a personal standpoint. He seemed like a great guy who was a great ambassador for the city.
However, he wasn't running for mayor his job here was to be the best player on the floor and lead us in the playoffs and after five seasons it just didn't happen.

How many teams have stuck to their core group this long after these sort of results?

DeMar's complaining that he was lied to, which is a question of integrity. What will Masai be able to offer Kawhi? That we're a top class organization? That he can trust him? This is an interesting trade because it could have long-term ramifications. You can't say your brand is all about family and then snake your most loyal soldier to bring in a mercenary. I have a pretty good feeling that LeBron will get Kawhi, thus proving he can move out West and still humiliate this team.

ESPN will say ANYTHING and EVERYTHING horrible about our team.

Year after year Demar tried so hard, and what happened?

Ohhh Raptors suck. Lowry and DeRozan suck. Same old same old.

And now we make a move and they all shook.

F*ck ESPN. And F*CK Brooklyn

1) Demar Derozan is the best Raptor of all time, if not tied with Vince Carter
2) If anyone wears the #10 this **** stupid franchise has dropped to an all new level of stupidity
3) Half you 'fans' that didn't appreciate having a player as loyal and talented as Derozan aren't real fans, and can F'OH.

This was a dumb ass trade, what is the purpose? What are we trying to achieve?

Blowing up our team?

So you traded your superstar and arguably the best SG in the league for no youth or picks in return, but basically an expiring.

Compete for the ship'?

You traded an all-star for another all-star, what ALL OTHER TEAMS do is keep their **** all-stars and acquire more all-stars with youth and pick assets.

OG, Siakam, Poetl, Ibaka and a first would've gotten Kawhi

And believe me when I say none of the aforementioned players will be better than Brown, Rozier or Tatum. So stop over hyping our young players that our scouts are obviously very good at acquiring more every year.

Foolish trade, this franchise betrayed it's best and most loyal player, and left a disgusting and sour taste in every REAL fans mouth right now.

Demar Derozan will forever be the greatest #10, and that statue and jersey BETTER BE built/retired.

You in shambles?

If "signing a star" means signing a star of DD's caliber I wish we never ever sign a "star".
