Bad for SA for not getting more in return, horrible protection IMO. It's no guarantee that the raps will be a top 10 team

I agree. They got an all-star caliber player (although probably not in the West) & a 1st round pick. As long as Kawhi plays, that pick will be a definite 1st rounder.

People get way too obsessed with high picks and cap relief. They also hype up rookies way too much.

Sometimes teams aren't looking for those things and clearly SA wants to continue to win games. Derozan and Poetl will start for them and make them a much better team than last season, plus Poetl is only 22.

It doesn't matter if you aren't a DD fan. He's still a top 5 player at his position and was the best player on a 60 win team last year. San Antonio got way better on the court, added a promising 22 year old and a 1st rounder. All for a injured player who doesn't even want to be in Toronto or SA.

It’s not like some huge haul with tons of prime assets was a possibility anyways. Philly wouldn’t offer Embiid/Simmons/Fultz. Boston wouldn’t give Irving/Brown/Tatum/Hayward/Horford. Lakers didn’t want to part with Ingram. Too many question marks surrounding Leonard for a team to sell the farm for him.

Honestly, I think it’s a good deal for the spurs. SA won 47 games last year without Leonard, now they get an all-star scorer and a 22-yo center with upside. Their goal is still to win games, and they are going to be a better team next season.

No one's obsessing over anything. Picks, cap space, and young players are how you rebuild.

If they're choosing not to rebuild, that's cool but the West is no joke. You may not care about my DD opinion but is he even an all star in the West? Is this guy making you a top 5 team in the conference? He's being paid 28 mil a year BTW.

The trade is better than nothing but IMO, the Spurs could have gotten more.

They're going to be in a position to make a serious run at it this year and even if he leaves, they blow it up and tank it up for a couple years and in 3 or 4 years when the remainder of the bad salary comes off their books they'll be in prime shape to contend when the current super teams are broken up and fizzling out, as long as they stayed the course.

I LOVE this move for the Raptors.

Probably best case we could have hoped for as well, if he leaves Toronto him and Kyrie might consider teaming up in Brooklyn.

If he leaves and goes elsewhere it's another Atlantic team a couple years behind our timeline.

Leonard is not going to come to Brooklyn...yall are clinging onto hope. It's admirable though

It would be interesting to see someone of Demar's play in SA. Not sure if I can recall someone like that under Pops... maybe a younger Ginbobli but even then, their styles were different.
