I'm fairly certain half the board would have traded DeRozan for Green straight up.

I’m laughing at you. Lol

I would really really like to see arguments of neutral Raptors fan who do not like this trade from basketball's angle (without loyalty, good guy, character crap) .
The only negative is the rose coloured glasses will come out of the closet and calls for a certain flash in the pan to have his jersey retired will see fresh air. DeRozan was on his way to be the only Raptor deserving of a jersey retirement. If this creates a vacuum, noise will be sure to fill it.
From a basketball angle, I will miss Poeltl. If we need a cheap centre, do we bring back Lucas for continuity? Do we see Ibaka play more centre? Or does Val see a huge leap in minutes?
Or does Ibaka play C (off the bench)?

Re: Poll: Are you happy with the deal?
I will go on record to say yes I am happy, but I say that with a heavy heart. My brain told me this was the logical move, and as others have already said not having to give up OG or Siakam (by far our best two prospects) in the deal is a big plus. That being said my heart does not take this trade as well, Demar without question exemplified a lot of the intangibles you want in your franchise player and needs his jersey retired asap. He could not live up to the expectations we placed on him as hardcore fans, he was not the guy to lead a team in the playoffs - we all saw how you need defensive minded players and more importantly ones who can space the floor and score from 3 at the smaller positions.
Even with Kawhi bolting this sets us up with our contracts to be flexible for a rebuild and gives Masai/Bobby Webster to finally build a team of their own from scratch. We're already getting there in baby steps based on who we drafted the last couple years HINT: they are defensive minded players.

I just hope that when Kawhi leaves next year for nothing that I don't see y'all who were happy with this deal complaining.
S'all I got.

Re: Poll: Are you happy with the deal?
Just eliminating the possibility that MLSE would have pushed for resigning DeRozan again at the end of this contract is an enormous win for this franchise. Given his position with the franchise in terms of the minutes and role DeRozan was going to have here - there was no possibility of serious contention for this franchise for as long as he was on the roster.

Yes. It is what it is. If he signs an extension we win this trade. If he leaves we rebuild.
A core where Demar is the first option was never going to have playoff success here.

Bingo. I think the proof has been in the pudding all along. And DeMar here would always be a 1st option. So this, in some ways, had to be done.

I feel bad for Kawhi, he just wants to play for an exciting city and Toronto is not it. I wouldn't play either if I already got used to a warm weather and it's not helping when the team is coached by a no-name guy.

I'm sure complaints will come but I don't see why that would be the factor in some of us complaining. I think most of us are saying it's highly highly likely he'll be leaving, and not like we love it because we believe he'll stay long term.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

Did you mean "wouldn't"? I've heard that is a common mistake.
