At least the Smart drama was kind of holding my attention. Sort of. Not really.

Anyway once this is done it's just the abyss until the season starts :(

Never in doubt, always expected him to be back and the Celtics clearly love the way he plays. Like I said, in a potential matchup with the Warriors, there’s no guard in the nba I would want guarding Steph more than Marcus Smart.

smart's money would be better spent elsewhere. especially with another year of development from rozier their back-court would be fine. im not looking forward to his horrendous shooting.. hopefully smart doesn't punch his girlfriend or glass tables

4/46 is super fair IMO. If Kyrie bolts next year, I'm pretty comfortable having Marcus as a starter for that type of money. At least until we find something better. Hopefully we get T.Ro to take a similar deal down the line.

If I were Ainge, I'dd offer an extra million per year if he signs a stipulation in the contract that he'll never take double digit shot attempts in any one game. Bonus kicks in if he sticks to that in the playoffs, too.

I'm just glad hes almost back and it gives us a tradable contract in the future if need be. We need this post on our team.

Smart was going to be used in a S&T for Kawhi Leonard. Now that Leonard is gone, Ainge going to lock Smart up. Pretty simple.

I'm a huge Marcus fan I just find the whole debate to be dumb with both "sides" mischaracterizing the other.

I have never thought that the Smart "issue" was complex in any way.

Agreed. We don't know what Kyrie is going to do next year. Smart can run the offense and with T-Ro's scoring, we should be able to fill that hole.

I wish the Spurs took OG and Siakam and dumped Gasol on them

Agreed. I thought it was a no-brainer to keep him, especially at the number being thrown around in Woj's tweet. It's just difficult because people who hated Smart would bring up his shooting numbers. Pro-Smart people would counter with stats that show he's a net positive when he's on the floor. And then the retort to that would be "Numbers don't mean everything. .....except his shooting stats. Those numbers are more important than yours!". Too frustrating for me. :banghead:

Ugh

Why overpay when you’re bidding against yourself, especially for a role player

Nah. One side was right and one side was wrong. You're right that it isn't complex, though.

This team needs what Smart and Morris bring to the table. They are instigators. MArcus sets a tone.
