Yeah like some waterboy is going over Masais head to tell Derozan hes not getting traded. Also you tell a player they are not getting traded that implies you like them and want them on your team. Dont try and misconstrue facts because your gaga over trading for a player who doesnt want to be here.

You're not going to immediately inform a player if their name comes up in a trade offer and if you are considering moving on from a player you aren't going to openly flaunt that unless they have demanded a trade or something.
The same goes for players though, LeBron was under no pressure to inform Dan Gilbert about his plans in free agency.
Exactly. Plans change. I don't see how Masai could give him a definite answer about the future. Unless demar asked for some sort of verbal reassurance on the spot like he is untouchable, which is pretty unreasonable given his circumstance in the first place.

The infuriating part about all these people saying he was lied to aren't stating that Masai several times OPENLY said everyone is on the table at this point. It completely contradicts the story. So to me it seems like it wasn't him who told DeMar that. Why would he tell him a few days before you're good and then days later deal him? That doesn't at all scream of a Masai move.

Kawhi ain’t signing with Toronto after next year and no free agent is going to be stupid enough to sign with the raptors as long as Masai is the GM. All this for just one year to stay relevant and not even make the final if Philly or Boston are healthy. Also for a guy who is not healthy and wanted to be traded away from best runner organization and coach...

That makes no sense, so we now make arguments out of 'questionable motive'? So if you think a Jewish person saves well/is frugal (let's say - and yes I'm Jewish), can I not give you rational advice about how to spend your money? Would you say but why would I listen to you? You're jewish, all you do is save your money.
You argue points on their standalone merits/strengths/weaknesses, not who is giving you the argument and what their background is. If you have to argue out of pointing out the person's motivation that means you don't have a strong argument and you're looking for ways to detract and distract from an argument.
It's almost like some of you guys never took critical thinking courses, it's incredible. (See what I did there? - You don't have to take critical thinking courses to form a rational argument, so I'm using your form of arguing, which is twisting the narrative).

Lol, this is such a bad look.
How do you DeMar DeRozan of all people like this?
People can keep trying to convince themselves that this is fine because their favourite team did it, but this is a really **** thing to do.

He can dislike DeMar, that doesn't mean his argument doesn't hold water. If he says something logical then that's that, if he says something weak then that's that. You can argue those points, you don't argue who the speaker is, it's a weak form of arguing.

Yeah, it's not as if he holds a huge bias against Demar or anything...
But please, do continue with your crusade for why I should actually respond to Danchan's post. I see this discussion going places.

It's all ad hominem stuff. If he holds a bias, perhaps you can read his posts and see if he has any good information you can extract from it, but to completely dismiss someone because they don't like the guy you like isn't how discussion works. You look to evolve through discussion and learn where you're right and you're wrong and how you can better your knowledge, but the idea that you have to dismiss someone entirely because you think they're biased is silly. Like I said, see what points he has that hold water and what points he has that don't, but don't dismiss someone because they don't like the player you do. Harry Palmer didn't like early-years Bargs, I did, I was wrong, I should've listened more.

Re: Demar Vents Frustration About Loyalty
Loyalty, or lack thereof, in pro sports definitely sucks. It comes from both teams and players and is an unfortunate part of the business of pro sports. When it occurs, it's rare and most people would probably like to see it work its way to a conclusion (i.e. retirement and/or the desire of the player and team to benefit from a late career move if the team is not contending and there is still value and opportunity for the player).
Be that as it may, if the reports are correct that DeRozan was told he was not being traded, that is a completely different animal and speaks to the credibility of the management in dealing with the players. How many players around the league right now are filing away in the back of their minds that the Raps can't be trusted? That issue has the potential to have much longer lasting effects.

What don't you buy exactly? you think DD is liar now too?
I don't buy that DeRozan was intentionally deceived. He may very well have been told he wasn't being traded because at the time of the discussion a trade did not seem like it was going to happen. That doesn't mean he was lied to because he was later traded.
could have been one of those "we have no intention of trading you" statements that are interpreted differently

I feel for Demar. If he felt that he was deceived, that's all that matters.
When the shock wears off from being traded to the Spurs he's going to realize this is a great opportunity.
Texas doesn't have income tax and he's making a fortune.
He'll always be an honourary Canadian.

I love DeMar and all he's done. But we didn't do him dirty IMO. Coaches get fired all the time after getting a stamp of approval from the GM/President. It happens in everyday jobs too. At least in the NBA, your contracts are guaranteed.

Unfortunately, there is no loyalty unless you are a generational talent and are winning. Really sucks though for Demar.
