Uncle Dennis and Kawhi's family are very tight knit. Uncle Dennis himself was in banking for over 20 years as an executive. The man is smart.

Well, he just lost his client $70M (could end up being $100M if he goes to a third team as a FA) in career earnings, so IMO he’s not that smart.

And who’s to say someone who is smart in one field is automatically smart/astute as an NBA agent - skills don’t automatically translate.

It's really unfortunate, because there are skilled players who blow job opportunities in the league because they can't catch on anywhere or can't find a role, and a guy like Kawhi who worked on his game extensively is essentially going to sit and waste an opportunity that most people would kill for.

Kawhi's father was shot and killed when he was 16 at their family car wash. Kawhi never really talked about it with anyone, just really consumed the despair. Uncle Dennis is the father figure in Kawhis life, he could have chosen anyone to be his manager, choosing an inexperienced family member speaks volumes about the level of trust he has in the world.

Kawhi has had different representation for most of his career though, right? Didn’t the uncle just take over in the middle of last season? What you’re saying is a good point, but why did he wait until his 6th season in the NBA, after he was already a superstar, to go after this family representation?

He's always been there as far as I know. The spurs are blaming him as a scapegoat I believe. They wanted kawhi to stay and know he's a good kid so clearly it must be the manager pulling the strings. Something I don't necessarily agree with.

Kawhi is quiet but not an idiot. He wants what he wants but probably too shy to talk about it. I've seen this before.
