Raps gonna use the Clippers as a blunt object against the Lakers. Come trade deadline the Clips will get a call asking for SGA (Canada!!!) and Gallo in a trade for Kawhi. The Clips have a chance to resign Kawhi and get him his full 5 year max and the desperate Lakers will be happy to oblige a S&T at full value PLUS where they wouldn't with SA. I hope that's how it foes down so Magic can have egg on his face.

That's actually a pretty good idea...... I would be impressed if they pulled that off. They should let Kawhi know its an option so he agree's to play.

I don't like hearing that they were lying about it. The weird petty **** from superiors hurts no matter how much you make.

The business side of it is what it is.

Why? Raptors didn't have a chance at the finals this season. Why not swing for the fences with a potential super star?
Demar/Lowry team had shown their ceiling and it was time for a change.

Worst case, Kawhi leaves, we open up a bunch of capsace, Lowry/Ibaka are expiring contracts and we start a rebuild early.

I since changed my mind. I said "could" because I didnt know the details. Now that I know it was for Demar only basically its a great trade. If KL is all nba fine. If he sucks and walks fine. WIn Win for Raps.

Well, I hope Demar is not BS'ing either, because we don't know EXACTLY what was said to him. It could have been an emphatic declaration they would never trade him or it could have been we have no immediate plans to trade you.

A lot can happen in the NBA in a matter of weeks, so the context may have shifted right after they spoke to him when they realized they could do a deal.

What are they supposed to do then? Go to him and say we have a possible deal being offered with the Spurs, do you want to go there?

Or they do the deal and say we're sorry, we didn't know this would become available to us, but we couldn't pass it up.

I just would not be 100% certain at this point based on Demar's hurt feelings claiming he was betrayed.

No, I don't want our franchise to lie to our players and stab them in the back. I'm not going to take sides because sometimes raw feelings over being traded results in accusations being made and we don't know if they are 100% true.

I can't speak for how other trades are done around the league, but my guess is players and their agents are sometimes the last to know when a trade is agreed upon. Sometimes deals need to be kept on the down low for them to actually happen and that can mean not telling the players until the deal is made. Rumors may get leaked out anyway before the deal is accomplished.

Clippers are going to trade SGA just so they can rent him for half a season in order to have a very small chance of a sign and trade with the Lakers in the summer? Kawhi can just sign a 2 year deal with the Lakers and sign his 5 year supermax in 2021, which is the most likely scenario. That would end up making the Clippers look really stupid.

Kawhi said he wants to play in LA, Not with the Lakers, Not with LeBron. In fact, there are some reports that he isn't interesting in a superteam. Playing for the Clips allows him to go to his destination AND get that 5th year on the max deal. He'd likely re-sign.

Ain't no loyalty? Bro you're getting paid like royalty. FOH

Highest paid wnba player gets less than an nba player sitting at the end of the bench. Think about that shiet.

How many WNBA games have you attended in your life? How regularly do you watch their games? Because anyone with a basic understanding of economics knows exactly why WNBA players get paid what they do relative to NBA players. Less games, less asses in seats and less advertising dollars leaves a very clear financial picture for anyone who actually wants an answer rather than to be outraged for no reason. Now don't get me wrong, I am a fierce advocate of equal pay and women's rights but you can't just pull revenue that doesn't exist out of the sky. So until you start putting your butt in the seats at WNBA games and helping the ratings by watching regularly it's probably best to leave the mock outrage at the salary disparity alone. Tiny profit margins aren't conducive to massive salaries. You want to blame someone? Blame society. Not remotely Derozans fault that there's a wage gap.

The Atlantic Division is stacked with talent and potential:

Tor -Kawhi
Tor - Lowry
Bos - Horford
Bos - Kyrie
Bos - Hayward
Bos - Brown
Bos - Tatum
Phi - Simmons
Phi - Embiid
NY - KP

The Greek Freak, Oladipo and Wall are the only two non-Atlantic guys that deserve mentioning with the above group. Then you have a tier consisting of: Love, Beal, Drummond, Kemba... Schroeder? below them.

The mere fact we spent an entire day talking about the Toronto Raptors for getting a top 3 player is a good day for raptors fans. With that said i like the move. You now have the best player in the conference on a team that won 59 games the previous season. People saying bad trade clearly don’t get it. Derozan clearly is not that dude and Casey clearly needed a change. Give this a couple of days. Once people see how well he’s moving people will look at Toronto differently.
