Never shoulda let Bud walk. Imagine the position Trae would be in if he didn't I think that's a worse transaction than Luka for Trae.
Travis Schlenk looking overmatched and underqualified like he was piggy backing off of Jerry West and Bob Meyers.

Bud quit after saying he was on board with the rebuild, we didn't 'let him walk'. Would've been ideal to have his development culture handle our rookies. Ah well.

I do agree with your take on Slink. If I have to listen to him try to glean off the Warriors success again, I might tear my hair out.

You draft a guy that looks kinda like Steph, a guy that kinda plays like Klay and a guy that kinda plays like Draymond but you wanna tell everybody it wasn't meant to mimic the Warriors? Mmkay. Friggin poser.

Nice bounce back game by Trae. He looks like he got all the jitters out and is starting to settle down. It looks like his outside shooting and passing will translate nicely to the NBA, but he really needs to have an in between game and work on finishing at the rim consistently. I'm still glad the Hawks made the trade.

Doncic is going to get exposed so emphatically. It'll be glorious. Mavs buried themselves with that trade

Another good game from Trae. He displayed elite passing skills in the 4th quarter and was very clutch. I was glad to see him get the floater going since he's going to need that to finish inside at his size.

Depends on the team he went to imo. Look at Mitchell in Utah, would he have done that on other teams? To a point but it was the ideal location imo. And with Doncic, they have a great penetrating pg in DSJ, that is going to free up Doncic. And then you have to think of the kids vision, really nice combo.

He might not make it in the NBA for whatever reason, not everyone does, but the dude put up off the wall numbers. It was no media creation.

Yeah.

I think we can all agree he's been over-exposed but that's an ESPN-thing. Not sure why fans insist on blaming the kid as if he forced these networks to constantly air Oklahoma games.

I do think the numbers were inflated by style of play, but I'd encourage folks to actually watch him play as our staff steers him away from the incessant "Curry" stuff. He's potentially an elite facilitator who'll probably be pretty fun to watch.

I was turned off by the crap-load of 40-foot 3's so I'm encouraged by our staff's comments suggesting that's not where they want him to be. The impression they gave was that they purposely didn't reign it in during SL mainly to give them tape to show him why they're such a bad idea.

Real test may not come until Hawks are in the playoffs and in crunch time, opponents target him.

Will he remain on the floor?

FG% is a lol stat. This kid foul draws and shoot threes. However that is still a bad fg% for that sample of games. You're also ignoring too much data imo, he shot 49% on non threes in college over a decent sample overall. That's not bad at all.

He’s had some moments but now really struggling to make shots.

Hawks have to mainly look for him to show improvement over the course of the season as he becomes more acclimated to the league.

If he actually started bombing 3s he would be such a good prospect. He has MVP upside, he is looking like a future league leader in assists and can drive. But he has to hit those 3s first

He's never been a guy with a high 3pt shooting percentage.

The problem is that he is taking 3’s 10 feet behind the line. He’ll learn but his passing ability is elite and I’ve been surprised at how well he’s getting to the rim.

Yeah but that's what you have to do to shoot threes at a high volume if you're a smaller player. My thing about him before the draft was that the difference between Curry and Lillard comes largely from Curry being that much better of a three-point shooter - for players in that mold (even moreso for Young, who figures to be more of a defensive liability than either of those two) a seemingly small difference is going to matter a lot.

‪He’s been able to penetrate in the lane and score/pass at the rim pretty well so far though. He has deceptive quickness and has elite ball handling ability. His 3 point efficiency will improve with more experience and when the Hawks get more talent around him. Teams are already starting to double Trae regularly.

That has always been Young though. High School, AAU, International, College and now the NBA. He has always had Steph Curry type shot selection but without the all time great shooting skill to back it up.
