Highly entertaining basketball player. We have three players now capable of highlight reel entertainment for fans. Miles is one of them. Kemba and Monk are the others. Lamb can do some things as well.

Thats what I've been wanting to see. One of those big dunks was even off of one foot. Im hoping the efficiency will increase once he gets more comfortable and isn't being asked to be a primary creator.

The tools are all there. He played nervous from start to finish in Vegas. He needs swagger, the same confidence he had in college. Needs to call Draymond Green and hang around him. I think with the killer attitude he can be a great player

Somebody else can come up with a thread name, but I always think of Miles Davis when I hear the name Miles
I don't suppose there are many other Jazz listeners here

Re: Birdland Presents - The Miles Bridges Thread
I feel like his athleticism is kinda overrated. Maybe its just me, but on his dunks, he never seems to sky, he just barely gets it above the rim. Like the ball goes very horizonally through the rim, not straight down vertically. Like, I feel like in every dunk, it's like only an inch above the rim. For a guy 6'7", that seems... weird.
Like when Aaron Gordon dunks, it seems like he can be 6 inches above the rim if he wants to. It never feels that way with Miles.

Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

I actually noticed that too, but then I saw a play where he skied for an offensive rebound (he ended up being called for the foul) and his head was near the rim and his outstretched arm was by the top of the square. I was like whoa!
I'm thinking that maybe on some of the dunks he hasn't been in position to load up and get the bounce that he wants, or maybe he's jumping off of one foot and not two. Not sure what it is, but he can definitely get up when he wants.

Yeah, think he was just more focused on getting to the bucket / absorbing contact, because the dude can sky.
This is him in HS (note his eyes at the rim):
Look at 1:40, 3:00, and 4:28 here:

Re: Birdland Presents - The Miles Bridges Thread
You know what's special about this kid?
He's lefty, but dunks all around with his right hand ! I just realized it on the first video posted above.
All the dunks are right handed.
Even in summer league he finished a couple of time some sky hooks with the right hand.
That's special, he's gifted.

Re: Birdland Presents - The Miles Bridges Thread
He was sneaky good in summer league. He carries a large bag of tricks and you really have to spend time getting to know him and even then he still surprises. He plays explosive yet under control, even when he looks reckless with his aggression and confidence. There is skill to back up his fearlessness on the court. This style of play is rarely backed by skill. You see it in few players: Westbrook, Harden, Draymond. That's his upside when it all comes together. He has too many tools and too many things going for him for it all to bust. He was a high floor pick but watch him enough and you see the high ceiling. Just get to know him.

Re: Birdland Presents - The Miles Bridges Thread
this kid has all the tools to be amazing, we need to let him play alot and work out his issues early. pretty much the opposite of whatever we did with Monk last season

This guy reminds me so much of MKG it's scary. It's like you see the painting he's trying to paint but he just never puts the brush to canvas.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Re: Birdland Presents - The Miles Bridges Thread
Just for the record, Miles in no way reminds me of MKG.
* Personalities are very different
* Miles actually has a game on the offensive end
* Miles is not a defensive specialist like MKG was, but does have both strengths and weaknesses on that end
* Their bodies are VERY different. MKG is skinny and fast. Miles is blocky and athletic.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

The key difference is body control. It's going to make Miles the better shooter, better finisher, better handler and better passer. The only similarity is a raw one: motor. MKG's is not backed by skill. And that makes all the difference in the world.
