Interested in the details...does this include unlikely incentives? Fair deal but a little bit too much IMO. I love Smart and glad he is back though. #18

This feels like the Avery Bradley contract 2.0

I'm good with wasting any more pixels in this thread. If you think you're a better evaluator of NBA talent than Danny Ainge I don't know what to tell you.

This does mean one of terry rozier or Marcus Smart are gone. They can't afford to pay both, in additions to Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown. Even Al Horford.

don't forget, next year.
1. Marcus won't have the same matching numbers this year
2. AD can't be traded here until Kyrie opts out and signs new contract

I'm not that petty so I'm not gonna tell everyone who read this whole Smart RFA situation wrong and/or who keeps undervaluing Smart to just suck it.

I was trying to find that thread where I was ridden hard because of my belief he is more impactful than Randall and will get more money in FA.

I feel vindicated.

Being a Bucks fan and seeing him change the games when he came in during the playoffs made me a believer.

This is a double win, Marcus back to make lofe hell on other teams. And also get to lick the tears of people who kept telling me there was no chance when I insisted he'd be back on a 4 year deal, though even I predicted between 44-48. But an extra million a year is whatever.

Like Constable said though, the second AD becomes available, bye Marcus. That's the other benefit is this contract, for the people who aren't happy.

I don't think Anthony Davis is realistic. They are going to want Jayson Tatum or both Jaylen Brown. No way are they settling for just Jaylen Brown and picks.

Not one single team was interested in him so there I doubt team would be many teams lined up to pay him 15+ a year next season. Problem with Smart is that he is a system player. You put him on the kings or Hawks as a centerpiece he would be a disaster.

Happy to see it come to a close.

I always rated Smart less than others as I think his on court impact is about a wash and therefore should get about the MLE deal. But my only concerns were losing other players at the cost of Smart.

This. I've always thought the same thing. The guy is a great defender and a horrible player on offense, who has some kind of a weird confidence, which leads to many bad plays. Anyhow, hope he proves me wrong.

There is more to offense than spot up shooting. By that logic, we should sign this guy.

For Brow, we might be packing Tatum's bags.

Considering he was getting zero interest from other teams Celtics clearly made it the market.

Jaylen/Smart/Williams/Kings pick/Grizzlies pick/multiple Celtics pick is a damn good package.

Return to Boston Celtics
