How many picks are you willing to give?

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Thu Jul 19, 2018 8:25 pm

As it has been said elsewhere, there is a lot of Rocket fan support for moving Ryan Anderson. I'm not sure how much of a priority it actually is for the front office; but with the fans and a lot of reporters that seems to be priority #1.

Anderson does have value in the right situation; but the sad truth is that he's a '16'er and that contract is tough to swallow.

So, to move Anderson, how many draft picks would you be comfortable with the Rockets giving up to make a deal happen?

1 First Round Pick? 2 First Round Picks? More than 2?

Only 2nds?

None?

One unprotected pick in '19, because of the low chance we suck next year, and maybe a distant 1st with protection growing stronger the later (top 5 in '20, top 10 in '21, lotto in '22, etc). But only if Capela signs long term for big money. If he takes the QO, then that alleviates the tax concern this year. Just eat next year, and dump him next offseason for cheap when he's expiring and the league has more cap space to go around.

one and top 20 unprotected
you read that right
top 20 unprotected
if in top 20, they get the pick, if 21-30, we keep the pick
Morey draft better in late 1st round anyway

It would probably be two firsts for a straight dump but if something happens I expect Ryno+1st for a better bad contract in return

2019 unprotected first and two seconds. The 2019 pick might be the last pick of the first round

How about Ryno and Onuaku for Z-Bo and Koufos?

Onuaku, Randolph and Koufos are all expiring while Anderson has 2 years left.

Kostas is actually a decent back up center that we can use while saving Nene for playoffs

Z-Bo still has some game left and added a three point shot last season
(last season he was 51 for 147 for 34% and before last season he was 148 for 582 in his career for only 25%)

SF: Melo?/Ennis
PF: Randolph/Tucker/Hartenstein
C: Capela?/Koufas/Nene/Zhou
PG: Paul/Gordon/Melton/MCW
SG: Harden/Green

TW: Edwards/Hunter

SF: Jackson/Shumpert
PF: Anderson/Bagley/Davis (eventually Bagley will start when he gets healthy of course)
C: Cauley-Stein/Giles/SkalLab/Onuaku
PG: Fox/Mason
SG: Bogdanovic/Hield/McLemore
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

How about Ryno/Qi/'19 1st for Shumpert/Z-Bo? Then cut Onuaku to make room for Hartenstein. Sign Duvall to a 2 Way, like what I saw from him in SL, and Melo.

CP3/MCW/Duvall (2 Way)
Harden/Gordon/Melton
Ennis/Green/Shumpert/Edwards
Tucker/Melo/Z-Bo
Capela/Nene/Hartenstein

Pretty strong starting line up, with a good veteran bench (plus MCW, yuck), and some youth developing behind that (Duvall, Melton, Edwards, Hartenstein) who can eventually replace our aging parts.

Edit: Or swap out Qi for Onuaku, and keep Qi, but I really wanna make room for Hartenstein. That guy has the tools to be the next Capela with the right tutelage.

Yeah you're probably right.
Kings signed Yogi Ferrell today so that eats a little bit into what they can offer Capela.

Kings signed Nemanja Bjelica for 3 years/20.5m

Bad news: they probably no longer are interested in trading for Ryan Anderson
Good news: they no longer have the cap space to offer Capela $20m a year

Where did that idea even come from? How is that remotely good for Houston?

Gallinari is a great fit for the guys the rockets have and the system. Pick 25ish and pj tucker plus knight seems like pretty good value

Looking at the rotation to me it seems like a tall athletic forward that can shoot and play 2 or 3 positions seems like the perfect add

What type of player would be worth that package

how? Even if you over rate tucker and over rate a 25ish pick and underrate gallinari it still doesn't seem like a hell no

Except Gallinari can't even play 60% of the season. He's better off going back to the Euroleague imo.

Durability is a real issue and no team will give up a core role player and add a first round pick to get him.

Gallinari is hardly healthy and you want Rockets toughest and most durable player?

Gallos contract is just as bad as Rynos was.

Lose Tucker, lose a FRP and add an injury risk with an Anderson- like contract is a pretty solid Hell no.
