Maybe I'm a huge homer, but with the Brad Stevens effect, I'm confident that we're going to see the most efficient Hayward yet. With Brad's ability to maximize his talent, it's extremely short-sighted to assume we've seen Hayward at his peak.

If it happened in Butler, it can sure as hell happen in Boston.

I can't wait to see the GB eat crow. I've started compiling a list of horrific hottakes to quote.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
HAYWARD ON THE SECOND SURGERY …

“Everything happened so fast. Literally, I did a test and found out … and the next five minutes he said we should probably get the plate out. Scheduled it (surgery) for later that night. It was fast. I had no time to think about it.

MORE HAYWARD ON THE SECOND SURGERY …

“It was really good. After that surgery, my ankle felt tons better immediately afterwards. I kind of set my sights and moved forward.”

HAYWARD ON MARCUS SMART’S RETURN …

“We’re running it back. We got just about everybody back and that’s really exciting for me. I had a front row seat to all the games. I had a chance to be around the guys. I didn’t get a chance to be on the court. For me to be able to play with them next year … Marcus Smart brings so much stuff to the table for us. He’s a winner. It’ll be fun to play with all those guys next year.”

HAYWARD ON THE EXPECTATIONS WITH NO LEBRON JAMES IN THE EAST AND SO MANY KEY CELTICS, INCLUDING HIMSELF, BACK …

“We’re going to try to win the whole thing. That’s what our goal is; that’s where our goal should be. We have the talent to do it. I think for us, it’s … hopefully we keep everybody healthy. For me, I’m going to be focused on training camp, getting through that first practice. It’s been so long for me to even be out on the court. I’m very excited about where we can go next year.

HAYWARD ON REGULAR SEASON GAMES HE’S LOOKING FORWARD TO PLAYING …

“For me, just everybody. It seems like forever since I played. The NBA has shifted again with guys going different places. I’m excited to play everybody.”

When is he expected to be back? I am thinking he won't be ready for the start of the season?

This update is from a month ago: http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/20180621/brad-stevens-expects-kyrie-irving-gordon-hayward-to-be-ready-for-training-camp

Stevens said both Irving and Gordon Hayward are progressing well from their respective season-ending surgeries and should both be ready to resume full basketball activities well in advance of the start of training camp in late September.

“There should be a little bit of a cushion there to be ready for camp – from what I gather,” the coach said. “They are well on their way to being cleared. It’s just a matter of time. My assumption from having talked to both of them – and it’s very much an assumption – you are probably talking mid-August and they are finding open-gym games wherever they are.”

Gordon clearly hates girls!!!!

He'll get over it. My father wanted a son too I think. And he got two daughters. And fluffy diva female cats. And just about everything female. He managed to turn one of them (me) into a sports nut though.

I always thought I'd have sons--very few girls born in our family in generations--and then we had two girls. An absolute pleasure.

Sure I'd say the same thing about boys.

Some good discussion here about Hayward’s shoe free agent status and New Balance’s interest. Also discussion about Terry Rozier:

Hayward was RFA. Utah would've matched anyway as they did with the Hornets offer. But it does show a bit of Irving's recruiting powers and intent on playing alongside Gordo.

Guy I work with just told me Hayward has no restrictions on him at this point. Quick google search produced this

But Pure Sweat Basketball's Drew Hanlen told Alex Kennedy on The HoopsHype Podcast that Hayward is progressing nicely in his recovery:

"He's doing really well. He's up to full-speed workouts now, so he's able to cut and play and do everything; there are no limitations in his workouts. Then, in the next week or two, he's going to be able to start competing again, which is awesome because then we can begin to make adjustments and do stuff as he starts playing live—that's super important so we can make sure everything we're working on translates into games."

Congrats Gordon!!! I'm sure there are still mental hurdles and I assume some muscles are not quite as strong as they need to be but this is a YUGE milestone!

For those link adverse people. Gordon just said on his twitch stream he wants a 'daddy is always happy chant at a home game'.

Too long for a decent chant.
Might need to change it to "Daddy's happy. *Clap clap, clap clap clap* (repeat).
