I am not well versed in salar cap/how that all works, but maybe this gives us more space to sign someone (but who?). I guess Arthur is a true PF, but I doubt he's what we need at the moment. I liked Duds being a Sun and being a mentor for the young guys

I think we had about a million (a little more) and now should have $3M+ in addition to any cost/cap savings on the buyout. I imagine it is to sign Sauce. But perhaps someone else...if they get cut.

The 3+ m is before Okobo -- so reduce that by 1m of whatever. And they didn't need money to get Sauce. They always had the veteran minimum or 4.4m exception - and to me Sauce is worth the former not the latter. I think this is more than Sauce at this time.

Probably Bjelica or Shengelia.

I thought Bjelica was on the verge of a 2 year deal with the Kings?

Not yet, they are negotiating.

I like these two moves. I think Chandler and Daniels better be renting. This will be a new roster.

Glad we're keeping Shaq and Reed. Not glad we gave up a 2nd round pick when we could have bought Dudley out.

Wrong, someone had to go and this seems like strategy to clear a roster spot effectively.

could have just cut Dudley then period

If you are gonna cut him period, why not save 2 mil while doing it. Also as I mentioned, Arthur probably takes a buyout at slight discount because he can get on with another team while Duds is done and would require full price. So 2 mil saving on deal plus what ever you actually save on a buyout. Not to mention that Arthur is more attractive as a straight trade than Dudley, maybe they have a deal lined up to dump Arthur? None the less, there could be more art to this than you care to think.

Like that they are keeping Reed and shaq. That's the most important news of the day.

The Dudley move is basically selling the pick for 2mil plus whatever less aurther takes in his buyout. Meh move but you can typically buy a 2nd rounder on draft night for around that amount so whatever.

I just don’t understand.

Like someone said earlier, Dudley’s contract could be used at the trade deadline for salary matching purposes.

Dude ...Who cares..... he wasn't going to see any playing time at all....

And we don't need a pick in the 40's in 2021..

it is not about needing it or if the picks amounts anything, it's about the process behind the move, it's just wrong

Why? Do you think Jared is surprised by this ?? Jared knew this was going to happen and he is still getting paid

The Suns will save $2.1 million on Dudley's $9.5 million for 2018-19. Phoenix had been discussing a contract buyout with Dudley, but the Nets have a need for Dudley's shooting ability as a stretch four position and could stay with them for the season.

Good to see we are keeping Reed and Shaq. All signs pointed toward that, but it is nice to have it official

Arthur more attractive? how so? he is as cooked and less versatile, worse shooter

they are cutting Arthur, so nope, of course they aren't dumping him and I doubt Arthur leaves any money in the table whatsoever

They want a player today or soon so they needed the roster spot

They still might have Chandlers to move at the deadline

if that potential second round pick in 2021 is needed by the Suns - they got big problems. Means Ayton was a bust, Jackson or bridges a bust; for sure Bender and Chriss were nothing.

Was it wrong when GS dumped two contracts on Utah along with two firsts to clear space to sign Iguodala?

The last couple of years before this past one he shot well..not a great defender but seems like an ok big. But this should clear room to sign Sauce. I imagine that's their plan. I guess they essentially traded a top 35 protected pick for $2.1 million, assuming both teams save a similar amount on buyouts.

they are likely retaining Reed, you always had money to sign Sauce, he is not getting more than a minimum from anybody, and you can sign those regardless of capspace

Arthur is getting cut

We don't know if he isn't getting any more than the minimum. He may have a $3 million offer from someone that we said we'd match or beat.

Obviously we would have done that if who we wanted to sign would sign for the minimum. Now if we STILL fill that roster spot with someone at the minimum and make no other moves, I will agree it was dumb, but we'll see.

See ya Duds

This isn’t about ‘cheap’. Sarver gave Duds $20million .... that comes out to just under $10g per minute.

This is about cutting dead weight and giving a ‘youngry’ the opportunity to make it. Dudley had no value. Second round picks have very little value. It’s a win win here

I understand that. I would just rather keep my options open.

I think expiring deals would bring a lot of value at the trade deadline.

What if Portland struggle and Lillard becomes available. I just liked having 20 mil in Dudley and Chandler ready to go.

I would be okay with moving on from Tyson and Daniels to make sure both Alan Williams and Montrez Harrel are signed

We'd have to add a ton of other valuable salary filling pieces anyway to acquire someone like Lillard so it shouldn't really matter in the long run.
