I can't make any predictions until the season starts this year. Feels like Mitch could trade any guy on the team before then.

I feel like we are being massively underrated. The only way we dont make the playoffs is if we have terrible injuries again or Borrego is secretly a Clifford disciple. If we stay healthy its an easy 43+ wins. I think the potential for 48 or 49 is there, especially since we play ATL and Orlando 8 games and they appear to be pushovers.

Various models I'm seeing have the Hornets winning fewer games this year than last ... but most of them are based on the previous season and then doing simplistic stuff like adding/subtracting wins based on transactions. They generally ding the Hornets for trading Dwight.

What they fail to take into account is how good the pre-Dwight Hornets were and what the effects of a new coaching staff could do here IMHO. I'm hesitant to make a prediction at this point outside of the fact that I'm very likely to take the over on whatever Vegas puts out for the team's projected wins next year.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Does anyone know what our record would’ve been last season had we not been record setting bad in close games? That seems like mostly a coaching thing and something a lot of people forget. Our overall +\- was pretty decent wasn’t it?

Biggest issues were lack of spacing/creation with MKG at SF, anti-clutch and possibly the worst backup PG in franchise history.

I think there is a decent chance correcting those things makes a big difference in the win column.

in every year of the steve clifford era, we've underachieved when the team is expected to make the playoffs by most people, and we're made the playoffs every year the team is expected to miss it.

let's see if that trend continues. nobody seems to be giving us a chance

Best player: Kemba

Most improved player: Kemba - no more dwight clogging the middle with post ups, even if Cody is not healthy he gets a great screen setter in Biz, enough shooting to keep other teams honest.

Most improved player honorable mention:

Batum - bounces back from a bad year which was due to injury

Lamb - becomes a starter and receives most minutes of his career, has career year

MKG - new coaching staff gets him more involved on the offensive end in iso drive situations where he is surrounded by shooters, plays with greater confidence and takes a major step

Best 3pt shooter: Monk

Worst shooting slump: Marvin or Frank

Best highlight dunk: Miles or Monk, probably Monk because he gets more minutes

Off-season move that pays big dividends in hindsight: firing Clifford

Hornets finish 4th or 5th in a close race with the Pacers and play them in the first round

The talking heads see little roster change but the truth is there is a huge difference in talent based mainly on change in style that will change minutes.

No Dwight means more Cody and Frank at the 5.
No Batum at the 2 means more Lamb and Monk.
Less MKG, less Marvin, 2 guys with low assist rates, one with no spacing ability who played big minutes with Dwight.
Parker over MCW.
Addition of Miles Bridges
Potential to add at the deadline, Love?

Great potential for change even though the roster is so similar.

It's also funny how much people overrate Clifford. Outsiders genuinely think he elevated this roster of bums to a playoff team those years.
