What are the Kings doing?

Post#1 » by CIN-C-STAR » Sat Jul 21, 2018 3:23 am

They are tying up money on Yogi & Bjelica for two and three years, respectively, and the cost of doing so is not only cap space but goodwill around the league since they are luring these guys out of verbally committed deals with other teams.
I feel like this is only like the 12th most questionable thing they've done in the last five years so maybe it's being overlooked, but still, WHAT?!!?

You are all sleeping on Vivec. Dude is playing the long game. You'll see when the Kings win the 2031 NBA title, all these moves make total sense.

The thing is, after everything that has happened, is there realistically any other way for them to sign anybody? This may just be it for them other than signing old relics like ZBo and Carter who had connections to their coach.

More like a De-Aaron Fox amiright? A player Divac drafted recently. I saw what you were doing there. You're a wily fox, man!

Well, could they have done something that would have made them contenders? They appear to be playing for somewhere around 3-5 years from now. But that's just a shot in the dark. Who knows, they just might make the playoffs in 2-3 years. They need to play their youth, have a few veterans and then add the serious pieces in a couple of years. At least that's what they seem to be planning IMO.

The last 2 moves are head scratches to me unless they plan on making another trade or two. Their main goal should be to develop their young guys and hopefully turn into a competitive team in 2 or 3 years. Instead of signing guys that'll take playing time away from the young guys they should have taken a salary dump for a 1st round pick since they're currently without one for 2019.

Last 3 moves. Unfortunately our F.O. bailed them out on the big one

I actually liked Lavine, maybe not for that amount or length of contract but still. I'd rather see them invest in someone that's actually young and had the potential to grow with their young core. Signing old ass dudes like Randolph, Carter, Koufos, and Hill that took playing time away from the young guys were (Please Use More Appropriate Word) though.

Divac has absolutely no idea which players are worth signing, so he just waits for other GMs to target somebody, then preempt them with a slightly bigger offer.

It's a sound strategy if you are yourself stupid.

Someone should sign Royce White as a joke to see if Vlade will go out and give him a bigger deal too
